Finn does a beyond fantastic job of covering his food once he’s done. Look at the effort here, so thorough! Ha! Do your cats “cover” their food when done?

It is suspected that this behavior is to cover the scent of their kill, the blood trail, saliva etc to make them less prone to alerting a predator. Some cats also do this if they do not like the odor or taste of the food or simply when they are done eating. There is not one cut and dry reason for this behavior and likely needs to be interpreted in the context of other behaviors and environmental qualities.

I suspect Finneas Esquire, does this because he’s a fierce predator and he is covering the scent of his “kill“!

Satu, skinny lady cannot get enough heat. Found a fantastic spot right on top of the heat vent and under a “well loved” cardboard scratcher. You know you got ‘em in your house too. Can’t toss because so scent saturated they love them so much!

While there are similarities there are also many differences. For example, the feeding protocol! One cannot feed a cat like a dog (twice a day with the wet and dry mixed together!!! Just NO!!). Check out this post from Companion Animal Psychology to learn more.

The Paw Project is featuring their directors and sharing our stories of advocacy. Today was my turn. It's lovely to see the comments and know one is making an impact but I truly wish we could wrap this up and be done with this barbaric practice.

MEET INGRID JOHNSON. Ingrid is the Co-Director of The Paw Project-Georgia, working to end the cruel practice of declawing cats, AND is a Certified Cat Behavior Consultant (CCBC).
Ingrid owns and operates Fundamentally Feline, providing consultations worldwide for clients experiencing behavior challenges with their cats.
If that's not enough work for one person, she is also the Hospital Manager, tech, and groomer at Paws Whiskers & Claws, The Feline Hospital, a cat-only veterinary hospital in Marietta, GA that has been a NO DECLAW facility since it opened its doors in 1999. Practicing what they preach, Ingrid and the clinic offer nail trims at no charge. The clinic stocks Ingrid's scratching products, sells the best nail trimmers, teaches clients how to trim nails, and actively advocates against this barbaric procedure.
Ingrid has created a series of educational How-To videos of her own, viewable on Fundamentally Feline’s website (https://www.fundamentallyfeline.com/) and YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/). Ingrid regularly gives interviews and offers her expertise for various media outlets.

I know this is a cat page but we found a bunny at work and we are trying very hard to find either, their original home or a new home. Does anybody have any resources? This is a post on a rescue group page in Florida. They made this post for us to advertise so I’m sharing it here.

Update: we were told that this cute bunny has found his furever home. Thank you for sharing the post. 🙏❤️

A veterinary clinic in Marietta, Georgia, reached out to us regarding a rabbit discovered under a car. Due to their specialization in felines, they are not equipped to provide the necessary care for the rabbit and cannot keep him there for too long.
Initially, a rescue organization instructed them to take the rabbit to their local animal care and control; however, the clinic is aware that this outcome would likely be detrimental to the rabbit's well-being.
Seeking alternative solutions, they contacted us for assistance.
Despite our willingness to help, logistical challenges arise due to our location in Florida. We would require the services of an exotic veterinarian to issue a health certificate for transport, and The Bunderground's assistance would be necessary for arranging transportation.
Given the complexity, we are posting here in the hopes that someone in closer proximity might be able to take the rabbit.
If you live close to clinic and are willing to help the bunny please contact Ingrid at (770)579-6001. Please share this post. Let's work together to provide a better outcome for this poor bunny who deserves compassion and care.
Thank you 🙏
