A note from Jason Otwell, Director, Atlanta Counseling Center

In trying to communicate the impact that our Susan Reid Client Assistance Fund offers, I am limited by what I can share because of confidentiality. The sacred stories my clients entrust me with stay within my office walls. These stories are filled with pain, grief, loneliness, burnout, anger, resentment, and hopelessness.

My clients have tried to respond to these feelings in every way they know how, with little to no success. Their efforts are heroic, yet they still feel stuck. They feel trapped not only by their emotional struggles, but at times by their limited financial margin. Unfortunately, when our emotional and psychological wellbeing suffers, our financial margin often goes with it.

Initially when clients hear about the assistance that our Reid Fund can offer, their response is muted and shallow. The burden is too great to express much. But there is a moment to come when they will feel better. They will be more emotionally sound, relationally connected, physically well, and spiritually alive.

This is the moment when they realize what the Reid Fund has given them.

A myriad of emotions pours out – joy, relief, surprise. They express tearful gratitude for the support that the Reid Fund provided. They say something like “please tell your donors and board thank you for what they have made available to me”. They refer friends and co-workers who are struggling. When we have been truly gifted, we want to share it.

So, for those of you have generously donated to the Reid Fund, I pass along our clients’ thank you.

You have changed lives.

And I invite all of you to be a part of these stories. A donation of any size can help cover the cost of therapy. It can save a life or turn one around.

Thank you.

What does it feel like to regain hope when hope feels lost? Many clients who walk through our doors feel hopeless. Although counseling does not create instant change, meeting with a therapist can provide hope when hope feels hard to find.

Thank you for giving the gift of hope to those who need it most.

Your contribution to the Reid Fund defrays the cost of counseling for clients with demonstrated financial need. As we work toward our goal of raising $10,000 by December 31st, please consider how you might help us reach that goal.

We can reach our $10,000 goal through annual or one-time gifts
of $2,500, $1,000, $500, $250, or other amounts.

We can also reach our $10,000 goal through monthly partners at
$200, $100, or $50 per month.

Will you consider being one of these donors?
Thank you for partnering with us.
All donations are tax deductible.
