Kegels aren’t for everyone!

Pelvic floor muscle training is helpful when weakness is present, but research shows many pelvic floor conditions involve muscle overactivity or poor relaxation, not just weakness.
In these cases, strengthening alone can worsen pain and pelvic symptoms.
Evidence-based pelvic floor PT starts with an individual assessment to determine whether the pelvic floor needs relaxation, coordination, or strengthening.

Come see us at Stability Pilates and Physical Therapy for an individualized assessment with our Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist!

Stability News for November!

Patients receiving care at Stability often ask, “How would massage help if I’m already in physical therapy?” It’s an important question, because not all massage is created equal.

✨10 years and still going strong! 💪🏻 Happy 10 year work anniversary to Jenna!
We asked Jenna what she loves about working at Stability and she said: “it doesn’t feel like work when you love what you do! I love being here with my coworkers, and all of our wonderful patients and loyal clients. It’s a wonderful community that I’ve been so lucky to be a part of for a decade! Helping to guide my clients through Pilates based movement is my passion and I love when they start seeing results and feeling the benefits. Helping people to heal and physically feel better is so rewarding.” We love you Jenna!❤️

Here is an instagram post with a call to September pelvic awareness:

September is Ovarian and Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month. As the weather is shifting, its a good time to shift focus towards what to watch for and how to advocate for yourself. Here are some things you can do:

* Stay informed about symptoms like persistent bloating, feeling full quickly, frequent urination, or pelvic pain.
* Talk to your doctor about your risk factors and what screenings might be right for you. (Did you know Pap smears don’t identify ovarian cancer?)
* Learn about specific biomarkers like BRCA and HRD, which may impact your risk.
* Ask your doctor about treatment options that are right for you.
If you’ve already ruled out cancer but are still experiencing symptoms like pelvic pain or frequent urination, it’s worth exploring other options. These issues can often be addressed with pelvic rehabilitation. If this isn’t a topic you’re used to discussing, that’s okay! We are here to help.
Ask about pelvic floor physical therapy to address your symptoms. We’re here to help you find relief.

🔥 August’s Fiery Focus: The Teaser! 🔥

This month we’re fueling the internal heat with one of Pilates’ iconic, spicy shapes: The Teaser!

This exercise challenges core power, balance, and spinal articulation.

Getting its name from founder Joseph Pilates who considered the exercise to challenge or tease the practitioner, Teaser demands focused strength & control.

🌶️ The spinal position for Teaser is the “J-curve” (seen in photo 1), which differs from the more familiar “C-curve” (photo 2, scooping the whole spine e.g. during Roll Down). For Teaser, the lower back subtly rounds into a curve for grounding, while the upper back & chest lift, lengthening upward. Obtaining a perfect shape is not so much the goal as the intention to create an elegant, soaring line—like the long part of a ‘J’ to blend anchored power and expansive lift, crucial for balance & grace.

To spice up your practice this August, stay tuned to catch us sprinkling in teaser tips and variations in class! You can find new fun ways to tease yourself into new experiences of this challenging exercise.
