🎉 Celebrating Juneteenth!

Family Freedom Walk & Talk: An at-home task to support communication and physical skills

Activity:
Take a “Freedom Walk” around your neighborhood, local park, or even your backyard as a family. Along the way, stop at 3–5 spots to engage in the following:

🔹 Communication Task (Speech & Language):
At each stop, ask your child to describe something they see using 3-5 words or share how they think children might have celebrated freedom in the past. Use open-ended prompts like:

“What do you see that looks peaceful?”

“How does freedom feel?”

“Can you think of a word that means strong?”

🔹 Physical Task (Gross Motor):
At each stop, add a movement challenge like:

10 jumping jacks

Walk like an animal you see along your route

Do a "freedom stretch" reaching both arms up high

Why it works:
💬 Boosts vocabulary, expressive language, and narrative skills
🏃‍♀️ Encourages body awareness, strength, and coordination
❤️ Promotes meaningful family conversation around Juneteenth
