Chronic pelvic pain DOES NOT automatically mean it’s the prostates fault, despite what your urologist might have told you. Do some investigation. It might be your pelvic floor. Find a pelvic PT!

Prostatitis is a diagnosis that involves an infection of the prostate. 95% of the time though, it isn’t actually an infection or an issue with the prostate. Most of the time, it’s the muscles of the pelvic floor causing those symptoms, and no, kegels aren’t going to help fix it. Yes, it’s true, you CAN get a prostate infection.

BUT, over 95% of the time, it’s actually a group of muscles called your pelvic floor causing all the pain and urinary urgency. In these instances, antibiotics won’t help. It’s imperative that you find a pelvic PT to help.

If you’ve taken antibiotics for pelvic pain with no relief, it might not be bacterial — it might be muscular. Chronic prostatitis and pelvic floor dysfunction are often the same story told two different ways.
