The University offers fully accredited graduate degree programs from its School of Counseling and School of Ministry with the M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling holding the highest accreditation available in its field (CACREP). With campuses in Atlanta, Chattanooga, and online, Richmont is known for its distinguished faculty and unparalleled in-field training, including serving some 25,000 clients annually through ten community counseling centers near its campuses. Richmont is the oldest faith-integrated counseling program in the eastern U.S., and its graduates consistently rank among the top 15% nationwide in licensing test scores. The University enjoys a rich heritage beginning in 1933, with roots in the former Psychological Studies Institute in Atlanta and the former Chattanooga Bible Institute.

Last week, Richmont's Atlanta campus held its third annual Chili Cookoff! We saw a record number of entries from classic beef chili to the winning Cacio e Pepe White Chicken Chili. Congrats to student Liz Aghamkar for winning the second year in a row! Thank you to all chili-makers and chili-eaters for participating and to Student Affairs for hosting this fun event, we'll see you again next year!

Dr. Stanley Hoover and Dr. Amanda Blackburn:
Negotiating relational space in clinical training and supervision: Transforming anxiety into courageous speech
"Our presentation explored how relational concerns within the therapy relationship often elicit anxiety and problematic avoidance among counselors-in-training. We presented a supervision model that address these concerns through curiosity, meaning-making, and courageous speech—practices that help to cultivate deeper, more authentic relationships with clients.

We want to thank our special guests, Mel Meyer, advocate and Board Member of the Freedom Collective and adjunct faculty for the Institute for Survivor Care and Tawana Rochester, survivor, advocate, and Richmont student, for speaking at Multicultural Stories: Sexual and Domestic Abuse. Richmont was honored to host them for this event as their powerful courage shed light and spread awarness on this topic.

A team of Richmont graduate students and staff joined the 2025 United Way Day of Caring to support Chattanooga‘s Creative Discovery Museum in preparing for their holiday programming. The creative discovery Museum has recently opened a feelings-based exhibit called “XOXO: An Exhibit About Love and Forgiveness.” We are honored to have this opportunity to help the museum provide quality social and emotional learning and educational experiences!
