Local 479 is made up of motion picture professionals working together to obtain guaranteed minimum working conditions, to maintain health insurance coverage for themselves and their families, and to protect themselves against employers who may take advantage of employees. Local 479 is not a "hiring hall", which means that each member must work diligently to obtain each motion picture job. However, the union does provide a stable footing of negotiated rates and is always available if contractual issues are encountered between its members and their employers. Local 479 looks to the future, to improve the working skills and hire rate for its members through continuing education courses provided free of charge (or with nominal fees). This page is one of several methods of delivering up-to-date information to our members; confidential information will only be sent via email and posted to password-protected sections of the Local's website.

Members of Local 479 have organized a gathering in East Atlanta following the funeral service for Brother Mike Pearce, to honor his memory and spend time with others who knew and loved Mike.

“This gathering is an opportunity for all of us to come together, share memories, and honor the life of a beloved friend and colleague who meant so much to our community. By joining together, we can celebrate the impact he had on our lives and find comfort in the strength of our shared connections.

You’re invited to join for drinks and tacos after the funeral.”

The coat drive has ended, and Local 479 is now distributing coats to MEMBERS OF LOCAL 479 IN NEED. If you or someone in your household could use a coat, please stop by the hall to pick one up (while supplies last) during business hours THIS WEEK ONLY, from Monday, January 5th, through Friday, January 9th.

This is a first come, first served distribution, and any coats remaining after Friday will be donated to a local charity.

Holiday Hamfest is over!! There are no hams left!!

This morning, 75 hams were distributed to members in less than 4 hours. This overwhelming response is a stark reminder of the challenges our members continue to face.

The DEI and Young Workers Committees were honored to use our budgets toward assisting our fellow members and union kin, and to bring a little cheer into their holiday season. Supporting one another is what makes us strong, and we are grateful for the opportunity to give back.

From all of us to all of you: we wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy holiday!

This holiday season, it’s raining hams at Local 479! Thanks to the efforts of our DEI and Young Workers Committees, we’re bringing a little cheer to our members during what we know has been a challenging time for our industry.

Beginning Monday at 9:30 AM, stop by the Local 479 office to pick up your holiday ham. Distribution will be first come, first served while supplies last—so don’t wait!

We’re proud to stand together and support one another as we look forward to brighter days ahead.

Autumn colors, delicious meals, time spent with beloved friends and family. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of time spent with those who matter most. Local 479's offices will be closed Thursday and Friday and will reopen on Monday at 9:00am.

HURRY!!! Time is running out to qualify for the 2026 Quarterly Dues Incentive Plan. If you want your 2026 quarterly stamp dues paid for you, you must act NOW!!!!

To qualify, you need to be in good standing by END OF DAY - THIS SUNDAY, November 30, 2025, and have paid at least $292 in work dues assessments between November 1, 2024, and October 31, 2025.

Log into the Member Dashboard today and make sure there are no outstanding charges with due dates on or before November 30, 2025. If you have a balance, pay it immediately online, by phone, in person, or by mail.

The office WILL be OPEN THIS FRIDAY (the day after Thanksgiving) if you need assistance.

Don’t wait - missing this deadline means you will be billed for your 2026 dues. Check your account and take action now.
