McCray Family Funeral Service & Cremation hopes to have an inspiring tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as we move into this 2026 holiday weekend.
McCray Family Funeral Service & Cremation was a dream of two individuals who celebrate 26 years this weekend and its our initiative to distribute lapel pins as a small token to remind everyone to embody the "Day On, Not a Day Off" spirit, turning reflection into a tangible community connection. A blend of Dr. King’s legacy and his iconic speech “I Have a Dream” allows us to remember others who constantly urge us to simply “DREAM”.
From powerful rap lyrics of Biggie Smalls, to Big KRIT, The Game, and Atlanta’s own Killer Mike spitting facts to touch our souls as well as the mellow sounds of modern artist Goapele and the rock-n-roll of Areosmith tell us and remind us to DREAM. The "dream" narratives of Langston Hughes, speaking to our souls; these lyrics and narratives aspiring the pursuit of justice and personal aspiration are deeply intertwined and resonate with us even today.
In 2026, as we continue to "stand in the gap," Dr. King’s message serves as a timely reminder that dreams require both the courage to imagine and the persistence to act.
For those looking to participate in the "Day On" spirit this weekend, here are a few ways to engage:
Find Local Service Projects: Use the AmeriCorps MLK Day Search Tool to find volunteer opportunities in your area.
Visit the King Center: If you are in the Atlanta area, you can explore the The King Center’s scheduled events and digital resources for 2026.

Keep Dreaming!
