Everyone here at UBHS wishes you a very Happy New Years!

💙 New Year, New Awareness 💙

As we step into January, it’s a powerful time to check in on how you’re really feeling after birth.
Not every postpartum mood change is the same, and knowing the difference can help you get the right support:

🔹 Baby Blues: Temporary mood swings, tearfulness, irritability; usually resolve within 2 weeks
🔹 Postpartum Depression (PPD): Persistent sadness, low energy, hopelessness, loss of interest; may last months without treatment
🔹 Postpartum Anxiety (PPA): Excessive worry, racing thoughts, panic; can interfere with daily life

✨ Early recognition leads to earlier support and recovery.

And remember, perinatal mental health conditions can also include OCD, Bipolar Mood Disorders, PTSD, and Psychosis.

💙 You are not alone, and help is available.

If you need support now:
🔷 Call or text the Postpartum Support International HelpLine at 800-944-4773 (no diagnosis needed)
🔷 Call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262
🔷 In a crisis, call or text 988
🔷 Download the Connect by PSI app
🔷 Visit Postpartum.net for programs and resources

✨ A new year can be the beginning of feeling better.

It’s a call for compassionate, respectful, and trauma-informed care — because every mother deserves dignity and safety while healing.

A provider who is comfortable or specializes in treating mental health and psychiatric illness in pregnancy can help set up mom and baby for improved outcomes! UBHS has providers dedicated to serving this population through evidence-based and patient-centered care. ❤️

November is Early Childhood Mental Health Awareness Month. The mental health of the mother during pregnancy and the first year postpartum is critical to the development of the child.

When we do not prioritize the mental health of expectant and new mothers, the consequences can be significant.

Our Maternal Mental Health: Impact on the Infant webinar and fact sheet provide valuable insights and strategies for supporting the mother-infant dyad.

🤩Provider highlight #2 is Brannon!🤩

Brannon has been with UBHS since August 2021! She has experience working with patients of all ages and across various settings - from pediatric clinics, emergency departments, and state psych facilities! Brannon manages a wide range of diagnoses, including Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Behavioral Disorders, Autism Spectrum, and Developmental Delays.

When Brannon is not working, she loves to spend her time painting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She also adores her 2 cats and traveling!
