Tomorrow is World Autism Awareness Day.

Today, meet Josh.

Josh has been part of the PossAbilities Plus team for four years. He earned his food safety certification and works in our Cup of Dreams tea room every Tuesday.

He also tells the best jokes on staff. Ask him for one when you visit.
Four years ago, Josh walked in as a participant. Today, he runs a tea room shift. That is what inclusive employment training looks like.

Tomorrow we celebrate World Autism Awareness Day. This month, we share the stories of the people who make PossAbilities Plus what it is. Josh is one of them.

April is Autism Acceptance Month. At PossAbilities Plus, we do that every single day. Here are 5 ways PossAbilities Plus does it every single day.

Swipe to see how your support creates real opportunities for young adults with autism and related disabilities in Atlantic Beach. Our trainees with autism and related disabilities work in our Cup of Dreams tea room, our Unique Boutique, and our art and garden programs. They learn hospitality, retail, kitchen skills, and sewing. They earn certifications. They build independence.

Every cup of tea served, every item on the shelf, every meal prepared is the work of someone building a future.

I am disappointed in JEA today. This weekend when the wind was blowing the power would flicker and go out for short time at PossAbilities Plus. This affected our sales terminals, computers, and customer service. I called JEA today to see if they could come and check the OLD Connections outside of our building to see if this could be a problem. We also have a big tree near the wires. I asked of the JEA tree service would see if this tree could be cause the problem. Otherwise we would need to get a permit and hire a tree cutter. I was asked if the problem was still occurring, I said, "No, the wind is not blowing today." I was told emphatically that JEA would not come out to see if the connections were a problem because the problem was not presently occurring. I confirmed that JEA would not provide proactive service to customers experiences problems and this was confirmed. I can only draw from this that JEA would rather wait until a customer is in a dire situation before providing corrective services.

At PossAbilities Plus, acceptance is not a month. It is our daily mission.

Every day in our Cup of Dreams tea room and Unique Boutique, young adults with autism and related disabilities build real job skills: customer service, food safety, retail operations, and independence.

This April, we celebrate the 2026 theme: Celebrate Differences.

Our trainees bring focus, creativity, and dedication to everything they do. Their differences are not obstacles. They are strengths.
Follow along this month as we share their stories, their progress, and the community that makes it all possible.
