February at Heritage House was all about spreading kindness across generations! Our homeschool friends helped create paper Valentines, and our health center residents delivered them to our friends in assisted living, sharing smiles, laughter, and love along the way!

Our Wellness Coordinator, Andrea Wiederstein, recently traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to complete her training at the Rock Steady Boxing Headquarters, officially becoming a Certified RSB Head Coach!

Andrea trained alongside 24 other professionals from across the country, including trainers, physical therapists, and new affiliate leaders. She even had the chance to meet the entire Rock Steady leadership team and experience firsthand the different class levels offered at the national headquarters.

During the training, Andrea learned how to assess where individuals are in their Parkinson’s journey and how to tailor exercises to fit each person’s abilities. She also dove into class design, business leadership, and even worked through a full case study where she developed a program for a “mock” participant. She came home with new skills, new ideas, and yes—her own Rock Steady gloves, wraps, and t‑shirt!

Andrea is returning to Heritage House inspired and empowered to grow our Rock Steady Boxing program and reach more people throughout southwest Iowa—especially those who may not yet know this kind of support is available.

Rock Steady Boxing is a 90‑minute, research-backed exercise program designed to strengthen the brain‑body connection, which can become delayed in those living with Parkinson’s. Each session includes warm-ups, cardio, strength training, core work, and non-contact boxing. Experts recommend two classes a week to see the best results, and we’re proud to offer that right here in Atlantic.

To learn more or get started, call 712‑243‑1850 and ask for Andrea or stop by Heritage House to visit with her in person. You can also visit https://members.rocksteadyboxing.org/member-directory/Details/atlantic-2829632.

Class Schedule:
Mondays & Thursdays | 1–2:30 p.m.

Join anytime!
A punch card is just $60 for up to 8 classes — only $7.50 per class.

Let’s cheer Andrea on and help spread the word about this incredible program!

It’s Chocolate Cake Day, and our residents rose to the challenge!
Could they tell the difference between a cake made from scratch and one from a box? The answer: YES!

We even put our chef, Reddick, to the test-and he was fooled! 😉

"In those days, Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And everyone went to their own town to register.

"So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room available for them.

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

"But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'

"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven.'" - Luke 2:1-14

On behalf of everyone at WesleyLife: Thank you to all who have blessed us with the opportunity to serve you this past year. We wish you a warm, healthy, merry Christmas surrounded by those who bring you joy.

Heritage House - Transforming Aging!

Making your own decisions. You've been doing that all your adult life. Why would you stop now? After all, choosing what you want to do, and how and when you want to do it, has an incredible impact on how much you'll probably enjoy each day. It's at the heart of getting the most out of life, which happens to be at the heart of our mission.

At Heritage House, a WesleyLife community in Atlantic, Iowa, we offer services and resources that help people remain independent, wherever they call home. That's something we've been doing for more than 70 years as an organization. It's also why we've been Atlantic's first choice for an active, engaged lifestyle – built around independence, choice, health, and well-being.

Our leadership position in this field is no accident. We trace our success and the well-being of those we serve to four strongly held beliefs that guide every decision that we make.

  • The power of wellness. Embracing holistic good health for your mind, body and spirit, on your own terms, through your own choices.
