This is a very important distinction and often why 'gentle parenting' gets a bad rap.

Validating emotions and being supportive does not mean that kids shouldn't be responsible for their behaviors.
We often attempt to teach about behaviors when children are having high emotions but they are unable to absorb the information. First calming them and then talking about their actions is more effective and has lasting behavioral improvements.

The horses have taken the past couple of weeks off due to the cold weather πŸ₯Ά

But our services remain very active! Lots of art, therapeutic games and Legos!

Due to the privacy of our clients it is hard to share all of the hard work that goes into our organization. We remain very busy with clients and new referrals.
The growth in our clients is amazing to watch.

Camp Get-A-Way is excited to be offering a group for teens (13+) to develop coping and social skills. These groups will meet almost every Wednesday in 2026 from 4:30-6 pm in the Camp Get-A-Way Office at 18 W. Buffalo St. in Warsaw. The office is set up like a casual cafe and all the learning will be relaxed and activity-based.

Cost is $25 per participant for 8 sessions. They are currently enrolling for the group meeting March 4-April 22 focused on Identifying and Communicating Feelings.

This is a huge topic we hear from the children we work with:
'My parents are on their phones all of the time'

We are attempting those 'fake breaks' by using our phones to 'get away'. When actually it is causing us increased irritability and inability to be present and really relax.

Our minds and bodies need the time to be present. Relearn what relaxing looks like.

End of Year Recap πŸ₯°:

What a year it has been!! Thank you for all of your continued Support!!
None of this would be possible without the support of our community and we cannot thank you enough!

We have worked with 55 families this year! All of these families were able to receive mental health services at a rate that they CHOOSE, thanks to all of the donations and grants ❀

We have helped children decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression, helped increase confidence, worked through family struggles and gave a space for children to be themselves.

We continue to collaborate with the community and advocate for children. Our referral base has continued to increase.

Laurel Perl, LMHC, a licensed mental health counselor, joined our team this year and her caseload continues to grow!

We had another successful year of fundraising - Our annual Paint Night and an Awesome Fall Festival at The Farmstead!! Thank you to everyone who attended, vendors, bands and everyone who helped!

Donations/Grants we received throughout the year:
Children's Guild Foundation - $15,000, Wyoming Foundation - $5,000, The Garman Family Foundation: $15,000: These grants have supplemented the costs of our services for families who are unable to afford the full fee.
We have maintained a contract with the Wyoming County Mental Health Department who continues to support our program.

Facebook Fundraisers (birthdays, giving Tuesday): $986.77 - Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

Thank you to our event Sponsors: Upstate Chevrolet and Greater Rochester Health Foundation

Thank you for all of the generous businesses who donated to our basket raffles!!
Thank you for all of the support from our friends and family!!
Thank you to all of our volunteers!!

πŸŽ‰We look forward to 2026!!

We hope to continue to grow our clientele base and help more children and families within our community with their mental health needs.

We will continue to foster our relationships with providers and our community in order to understand the mental health needs.

Save the Date
April 25th – Paint Night at Wallenwein's Hotel in East Aurora
