Maureen A. (Costello) Lydon, 80, of Bellingham MA passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Lydon.

Born and raised in Westwood MA, she was the daughter of the late Mary J. Costello.

She leaves behind her children: Cindy Lydon and her fiancé Otto Garcia of Fremont, NC; Judi Lydon-Ruby and her husband, Daniel, of Bellingham, MA; and William Lydon Jr. of Bellingham, MA; her beloved grandchildren: Megan Boulanger, Ryan Boulanger, Zachary Ruby, Joshua Ruby and Brittany Lydon and her cat, "Baby". Prior to retirement, Maureen worked for the Bayer Diagnostics/Siemens Corporation in the sample bank, running immunoassays. In later years, she devoted time to caring for the elderly, as a part-time companion, and she made lasting friendships with their families along the way. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at the Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA, date and time to be announced in the coming days.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Maureen to the Friends of Franklin Elders - FOFE, Inc., to benefit programs at the senior center, 10 Daniel McCahill Street, Franklin, MA

Linda Marie Phipps

Linda Lyman Phipps passed away on March 19 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital while fighting metastatic breast cancer. She was the only child of Arthur and Helen (Morrell) Lyman. Linda grew up in the West Street area of North Attleboro. Her nana, Christina, lived with them and had a lasting positive influence on her. When she was 4 she started Kindergarten at Dominican Academy in Plainville. She continued her studies at St. Mary's School and went on to Bishop Feehan High School. There she met her husband, Ken, and they both graduated in 1966. After graduation, Linda attended Fisher College in Boston. Ken and Linda were meant to be and they soon got married. They had 2 children, Cherie and Laurie. Linda made their home special.

At 16 Linda began working for Ripley & Gowen in Attleboro. While raising her children, she worked part-time at Fernandes Supermarket in Plainville. They had one car, so when Ken came home from work, Linda would leave for her work. After the kids started school, Linda sought full-time work as a medical assistant. She worked for Dr. Thomas Fay, then Dr. Robert Keeler and lastly, Dr Frank Masci. Linda worked as his Office Manager for 37 years. She was proud of the business practices she implemented and the success of the practice. She retired at 68 after 52 years working. She had a strong work ethic and it was bestowed on her girls.

Linda and Ken moved to their Broadway Extension home, across from Whitings Pond in 1973. There were many kids in the neighborhood and that's what Linda wanted for her girls. Fun times were had for 35 years. Linda was a brownie leader, cheerleading team mother, attended all their events and supported their school life. She made their house a home, hosting many family and neighborhood parties. Making meals and making sure supper time was attended by all was important to her. She liked to call it "family building". The girls went off to college and Linda wrote them daily. They graduated and got married. Then, the grandchildren came along and Linda got busy attending their activities and helping out when needed. They were a joy to her. She wrote and sent a package weekly while they were away at college.

In 2005, Linda and Ken sought the Condo lifestyle, so they moved to Plainville and have been there since. She loved her home and her neighbors and the view of the sky off her deck. Ken and Linda were a couple and they embraced it, loving each other for over 60 years. They were very proud of their longevity.

Linda loved to travel. Favorites included Tween Waters Inn in Captiva FL, Italy, Walt Disney World, and Cape Cod. She loved beaches, waves and the ocean.

She was known for always reaching out with messages of kindness, encouragement, and love. Her words lifted spirits and her presence brought comfort. She made the world brighter, one heart at a time. She would not want tears of sorrow, but smiles, laughter, and stories shared like waves upon the shore. Linda was thankful for all the love and support given during her life's journey, especially during her battle with cancer. Remember her in the warmth of the sun, the rhythm of the tide, and the love that surrounds you always.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Phipps; her cousin-sister, Pamela McCarthy of MD; Sisters-in-law (little sister) Sallyanne (Kevin) Monahan of MA and Rosalie (Craig Stock) Phipps of PA; Brothers-in-law Richard Phipps of MA and Thomas Phipps (Sandra) of FL. She was pre-deceased by her mother-in-law, Barbara Phipps Boyd, her brothers-in-law, Marc Phipps, Scott Phipps, and Burton Phipps, and sister-in-law, Donna Phipps.

She was the proud and loving mother of Cherie and Jeffrey Smeltzer of NH and Laurie and Jason Bosh of MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Rebecca (Skyler) Smeltzer Kramer, Parker (Zoȅ) Smeltzer Fox, and Gabby and Meredith Bosh. She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember her with great affection. She also loved her grand-dogs and grand-cats.

We'd like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Sturdy Health for her care over the years and Hope Health Hospice in her final days. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in memory of Linda Phipps www.joeandruzzifoundation.org.

A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at St. John's Church, 1 St. John's Place, Attleboro, MA. A celebration in Linda's honor will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 12-4 PM at the Attleboro Elks Hall, 887 South Main St., Attleboro, MA.

James W. Havens

James Woodrow Havens (Jim), 85, of East Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on March 9,2026.

Born in Rome, New York, on September 6, 1940, he was the son of the late James K. Havens and Mary (Clarke) Havens.

Jim is survived by his wife, Rena; his sister, Mary; his sons, James, and Heath; and several granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

Jim was an avid radio operator for most of his life, a skill he first put to use during his service in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964 aboard the nuclear submarine SSN-575 Seawolf. After his honorable discharge, Jim attended college and began his career as a math teacher in Quincy, Massachusetts.

In the early 1980s, he taught himself computer systems, launching a long and successful career in information technology. Over the following decades, he held various roles in the field, including working at Hanscom Air Force Base on a military contract with TRW.

In his later years, Jim devoted himself to his family and to his walk in the Christian faith. While in retirement, he continued to give back as a teacher at Hope Christian School. Throughout his life-and right up until his passing-he remained deeply passionate about his life-long hobby as a ham radio operator.

In his twilight years, Jim often spoke of Christ's sacrifice and the promise of salvation. He believed deeply that through faith and acceptance of this truth, one can find lasting joy, gratitude, and peace-both in this life and in the Kingdom to come.

Services for James will be held privately at a later date.
