💛 Common Misconception: They’ll grow out of it…” (Part 2)

This is one of the most common things parents hear about their child’s struggles.

And while some skills do develop over time, many challenges benefit from support—not just waiting.

Pediatric occupational therapy helps children build the skills they need to function, feel confident, and thrive every day.

If you’ve ever been told to “wait and see,” know this—you don’t have to wait. 💛

đź’› Common Misconception: OT is just for helping with fine motor and handwriting.

If you’ve ever been told OT is just fine motor or handwriting… keep watching (Part 1)

This is something I hear often, and it’s such a common misconception.

OT is so much more than fine motor skills—it supports how children function in their everyday lives, from play to learning to independence.

If your child is constantly moving… this might be why 🤍

It’s not always “high energy.”

Their body is communicating—this is one way to support it.

Save this for later.

If your child is always on edge… this could be why 🤍

The Moro reflex plays a bigger role in regulation than most people realize.

Easily startled. Overwhelmed. Struggles with change.

Save this—you may need it.

Every journey has a starting point.

Here’s how I got started in pediatric occupational therapy and what led me to create Faith and Function to better support children and families.

Grateful to partner with Assisting Hands for their recent caregiver training.

Organizations that invest in their caregivers create ripple effects far beyond the training room — strengthening the care their clients receive.

When caregivers understand the why behind what they do, confidence grows, decision-making sharpens, and patient outcomes improve.

We focused on stroke recovery, safe ADL support, recognizing red flags, and knowing when to escalate concerns in the home setting.

Thank you to the leadership team for prioritizing growth, safety, and dignity in home care.

Honored to contribute.

This morning was a small way to say thank you to a team that gives so much every single day.

I’m incredibly grateful to work alongside teachers who welcome collaboration, value early intervention, and genuinely care for the children they serve.

Being here several days a week and supporting these kids has been a true privilege.

I don’t take lightly the trust it takes to invite someone into your space, your routines, and your children’s days.

Thank you for your openness, partnership, and the work you do. I’m truly thankful for each of you. ❤️

December is magical✨ — but for sensory-sensitive, autistic, and ADHD kids, it can also be overwhelming. Bright lights, loud events, and nonstop schedule changes add up fast.

I put together a practical OT guide to help make the entire Christmas season calmer and more predictable for kids who struggle with sensory overload.

Inside the blog:

• Simple ways to reduce sensory overload at home
• Strategies to support kids during school and community events
• Routines that protect regulation all month long
• Low-stimulation holiday activities that don’t overwhelm
• A weekly rhythm that helps prevent December burnout

If your child or students struggle in December, this guide will help you create a season that feels safe, calm, and manageable — without sacrificing the joy they’re excited for ❤️.
