🎉 November Caregiver of the Month 🎉 Please help us celebrate Zara F., who has been with Help at Home for 5 years and began her caregiving journey through IHSS, college work, and caring for her grandfather with dementia. She loves unwinding with racquetball and finds the most reward in knowing she makes a difference, believing that great caregivers are attentive, respectful, punctual, and good listeners. Join us in celebrating Wagdon, who has been making a difference as a caregiver since 2010 and has been part of the Help at Home family for the past two years! 💙

Wagdon’s caregiving journey began in college when he helped a disabled gentleman get around campus. That gentleman saw something special in him and encouraged him to look into caregiving as a career — and we’re so glad he did!

For Wagdon, the most rewarding part of being a caregiver is getting to know his clients and listening to their incredible life stories and experiences. One of his favorite memories? A former client once surprised him with tickets to see Hamilton! 🎭

When asked what makes a great caregiver, Wagdon says it’s all about patience and understanding — and remembering not to take things personally. He believes that skills and training should be tailored to each client, and that proper training in cognitive impairment and dementia care is essential. “Adaptability is key!” he adds.

His advice for anyone considering a caregiving career?
💬 “Always have patience and be non-judgmental. People lead different lives and have different beliefs — be understanding, and don’t treat people based only on what you see.”

Wagdon builds trust and connection with his clients and their families by showing genuine interest in their lives — a simple but powerful way to make meaningful connections every day.

This Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Auburn’s parade will honor Vietnam veterans. The first 500 veterans attending or participating in the parade will receive a commemorative medal. We’re proud to have been serving and supporting our veterans in the community since 2008.

Meet our September Caregiver of the Month Patricia F!

🌟 Pat first joined us in 2010 after taking a caregiving class at Placer School for Adults and caring for her husband and mother-in-law. Inspired by her own wish to age at home one day, she’s dedicated to giving that same gift to others. Outside of work, she stays busy with her three dogs. 🐾 What she loves most about caregiving is becoming part of her clients’ families, treating them as if they were her own. Her advice to new caregivers? Be patient, dedicated, and always listen. 💙
