Gracelawn Memorial Park History:

Gracelawn Memorial Park, central Maine's first garden cemetery, was established in 1937 as a not-for-profit corporation. In 1950, Gracelawn Memorial Park established Maine’s first crematory, and in the early 1960’s, Gracelawn constructed Maine’s first community Mausoleum. Since 1948, Gracelawn Memorial Park has been a family operated not-for-profit business. From 1948 to 1973, the Charles Warner family managed Gracelawn; from 1973 to 1995, the N. Edward Chapman family; from 1995 to 2015, Dan and Diane Fuller family; and from 2015 to present, Scott Fraser and family are managing Gracelawn Memorial Park. On August 15, 2015, Scott Fraser became owner, carrying on a Gracelawn family tradition. From 1992 to 1994, Scott worked in the cemetery under the direction of his two uncles, Charlie and Mark. In 2005, after serving in the United States Navy, Scott returned to Gracelawn, and in 2010, Scott was appointed Director of Buildings and Grounds, in 2014 was appointed Executive Director, and in 2015 became owner.
