Therapy Thursday Thoughts

The body tolerates many postures well, and changing positions regularly is healthier than trying to maintain one “perfect” posture. A physical therapist can help guide you.

Why It Works Wednesday

Your physical therapist may help you practice controlled movements to rebuild confidence during daily or sport-related tasks.
✅ Tip: Control matters more than speed early on.

Most people think bending the knee is the goal after surgery.
Clinically? Restoring full knee extension is the priority.

Without terminal knee extension, the knee never locks into stability.
The quadriceps stay inhibited.
Gait becomes inefficient.
Joint loading shifts where it shouldn’t.

And here’s what many miss—
Even a loss of 3–5° of extension is enough to change mechanics.

That’s how patients develop:
• Persistent flexed-knee gait
• Increased patellofemoral stress
• Delayed strength recovery
• Long-term movement dysfunction

In early rehab, extension isn’t just another ROM box to check.
It’s the mechanical foundation for everything that follows.

Extension first. Mechanics first. Outcomes follow.

Follow Physical Therapy Innovations—where precision isn’t optional… it’s the standard.

Therapy Thursday Thoughts

Large studies show no strong link between specific postures and back pain, suggesting movement variety matters more than holding one position. A physical therapist can help guide you.

Why It Works Wednesday

Your physical therapist may include balance exercises when pain, weakness, or injury affects stability. Exercises are adjusted to match comfort and ability.
✅ Tip: Balance work starts simple and progresses slowly.

Most shoulder pain isn’t a shoulder problem — it’s a shoulder blade problem.

This exercise targets the serratus anterior, one of the most important stabilizers for overhead movement.

Palm up.
Press up.
Control down.

Small details.
Big difference.
