Boo! Who? It was, indeed, a haunting happy hour and costume parade last week in both clubhouse living rooms. With witches and vampires, ghosts, scary clowns, superman and wonder woman, emojis galore, card sharks, cowboys and aliens, and our own snow globes from around the world ... what a fun way to end the week/month and celebrate a holiday that everyone claims is for the kids, but we all know better!

Playing to a full house in the Shannondell Performing Arts Theater earlier this week, our “Three Tenors” – Samuel Schlievert, Jim Schubin and Daniel Taylor – brought the house down, once again. Performing a mix of opera arias, Irish songs and Broadway classics, the three – as soloists, duos and a trio – proved why they remain one of our most popular shows. Enjoying an “all-aboard” Epicurean outing to the historic Delaware River waterfront in Philly, these residents had much to smile about. Starting with lunch on the Moshulu, next stop was Shane’s Confectionary followed by, what else, 2 scoops of their favorite flavor at Franklin’s Fountain to end the day. And a “full” day it was!

Don’t miss artist Kit Burns’ impressive exhibit in the Shannondell Art Gallery before it closes on Thurs., October 23rd. Working in subjective and abstract styles, Kit is also the organizer of the Art Group at MLUC in Devon. “Fall Cocktails” – two words made for each other as a select group of residents will attest to who attended last week’s first seasonal Epicurean event in the Ashcroft clubroom. Mixtures tipped up include a tasty Pear, Ginger & Vanilla Crush, a lively Cranberry Blitz, a Pumpkin Spice (you knew it was coming) Sangria, and last but not least, a Cherry Bourbon Bomb! The winner ... the Cranberry Blitz by a nose, it seems. If you missed the event, don’t worry, both clubhouse bars will be rotating the selections into our weekly drink specials all month. Shannondell staff enjoyed celebrating our Super Bowl champion Eagles opening game against the Dallas Cowboys this past week ... and what a game it turned out to be. Surviving the storm, figuratively and literally, our hometown-fave QB had what has been called his best game ever, leading the team to a 24 – 20 victory. Bring on the Chiefs, and “Fly Eagles, Fly!”
