🎓Speech Therapy Graduate🎓

These days are always bittersweet! Joeanna attended her weekly sessions with excitement, and enjoyed utilizing many play-based therapy activities, including: coloring, crafts, board games, and iPad games.

This client made steady gains, and recently met all of her therapy goals, to include: ‘l’, ‘r’, l-blends, and r-blends. These mastered speech sound skills have carried over to success in the classroom with communication, reading, spelling, and writing.

This kiddo is kind, funny, creative, and very artistic. When I asked how she felt about graduating, Joeanna said, ‘I’m happy AND sad.’ I agree! Great work, Jo! 🩷

🌟November Speech Star🌟

Mayzie is always excited to attend weekly sessions and enjoys a variety of play-based therapeutic activities while targeting prescribed speech sound goals, to include: crafts, board games, remote control bus, and the iPad. This client continues to work hard and is making steady gains with /s/, /r/, and s-cluster targets.

Mayzie is kind, often offering hugs to this clinician while passing in the hallways, and saying, ‘I like how you teach me.’

This friend was very proud to announce the accomplishment to her classmates while they all applauded her award. 🫶🏼

Congratulations, kiddo— keep shining! ✨

Hi, I’m Kelly! 👋🏻

Introducing myself for those of you who may be new here— I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and co-owner of Blackwell Speech Therapy. I obtained a Master of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Maine in 2012, and hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA, which is a nationally recognized professional credential, and represents a level of excellence in the field of Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). In 2022, my husband, Joel, and I began our company, Blackwell Speech Therapy, which has been a dream come true.✨

Each year, to maintain my license and CCC, I complete continuing education courses in topics relevant to speech-language. Examples of recently completed trainings include the following: Complexity Theory/Approach for children with severe phonological disorders, Play-Based Learning, Motor Learning Principles, and Early Literacy Intervention.

Our schedules are full and waiting lists closed; however, returning to educational settings, collaborating with educators, and continuing work with current students has been a joy this fall!

I am looking forward to another year of communication, play, and growth.

Please reach out with any questions!☺️

September was such a fun month in speech therapy!

Our therapy themes included: back-to-school, apples, and fall leaves. We targeted several speech sound and language goals while utilizing both structured and unstructured play-based materials. Navigating the remote control school bus through the traffic cones was definitely a client favorite!

Happy October!

🌟July Speech Star🌟

I said ‘see you later’ to this very special friend and her family today, as I transition this fall to providing services full-time in the educational setting.

Lauren is pure joy. She is excited to attend sessions and loves participating in play-based activities, including: painting, play-doh, board games, and kinetic sand. We have targeted l-blends, motor planning of functional words/phrases/sentences, and use of grammatical structures.

I will miss her dearly, and our many chats about her favorite ice cream, Taylor Swift, her baby cousins, dance recitals, and her dog, Gidget.

See you later, Lauren— thankful that I was fortunate enough to be a member of your team. I can’t wait to hear about how bright you continue to shine!

🌟May Speech Star🌟

Weston began speech therapy in March, and is making steady gains in the awareness/accuracy of speech sound targets! This client has consistently worked hard to begin producing ‘sh’, ‘ch’, and ‘r’ without distortion. Weston is excited to attend weekly sessions, and enjoys participating in various play-based activities, including: board games, coloring/painting, iPad, and sensory bins. Weston is kind, funny, hard working, and a great problem-solver.

I consider myself lucky to be working with this awesome kiddo. Proud of you, Weston! 👏🏼🗣️🫶🏼
