There are only a few days left to make a year-end gift to NAMI Kansas.

Your support strengthens our ability to meet the growing need for mental health resources across the state. It ensures that our programs remain cost-free and that every Kansan has a safe place to turn during difficult moments.

If you have not yet given, or if you’re able to give again, please consider a year-end contribution.

Meet Cindy.

When a loved one in her family was diagnosed with a mental illness, Cindy and her family knew nothing about mental health conditions or how to navigate what lay ahead. Within a few weeks, they enrolled in the weekly NAMI Family-to-Family class. The education, understanding, and sense of community they found there changed everything.

Everyone in the class had similar experiences, and that connection helped Cindy’s family realize that they were not alone in their journey. They found knowledge, support, and hope that their family could move forward with strength.

It has now been ten years since they began their NAMI education and support participation. Throughout that time, NAMI has continued to help keep their family focused on recovery and stability.

Cindy describes it as a truly life-changing experience.

Your support ensures that families across Kansas can access the same understanding, connection, and hope that transformed Cindy’s family.

Meet Stacey.

She describes living with Complex PTSD and ADHD as waves of anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts that make her body feel unsafe, even when her mind knows otherwise. The “circumstantial fog” she faces can feel overwhelming.

But walking into NAMI Kansas changed everything.

At NAMI, she is accepted without shame. She meets others who have lived through similar experiences and family members who support loved ones with challenges. She says, “NAMI is where I get to be me. I am loved and accepted.”

Your support makes these safe, supportive spaces possible.

Meet Matthew.

After 19 years of struggling with substance use and undiagnosed mental health conditions, Matthew stood before a judge and entered Drug Court. A member of his treatment team told him about NAMI Reno County.

“Everything began falling into place,” he said.

At NAMI, he found people who understood being misunderstood, shared coping strategies, and offered a safe space between gaps in care. As he engaged with NAMI programs, he rebuilt his life, regained his family, returned to work, began volunteering, and now uses his lived experience to help others find hope.

Your support sustains programs that change lives.

Meet Terry and Nancy.

For nearly 40 years, they carried bipolar disorder in silence, burdened by stigma and isolation. In 2019, everything changed when they found NAMI Kansas. They discovered a safe place where they were understood, accepted, and never alone.

Nancy learned her husband’s condition was a medical illness, not a character flaw. Terry learned he could manage his disorder with support and community. Today, they are trained program leaders who bring hope to others every week.

For them, NAMI Kansas has been a lifeline, reminding them that “we never give up hope, and we do not walk alone.”

Your support makes stories like theirs possible.
