Our SPD manager, Nick Bennett, participated in the Brave the Shave event to benefit the Children's Hospital of Georgia. Nick raised nearly $3,000, on his own, and agreed to shave his head and beard in support of fighting childhood cancer. This was only the 4th time in FIFTEEN years, Nick has had a clean-shaved face!

We are so proud of him, his self-less act, and the effort he put in to raise so much money for such a deserving cause. WAY TO GO, NICK 👏

Feature Friday✨Meet the Dynamic Duo of the Adult OR, Danny and Daly!

Danny Kennamer, RN, has been working in the Adult OR for 8 years. Before the operating room he was an ICU nurse for 5 years, with experience in both Medical and Surgical ICU specialties. He has put in his time and it shows, Danny has it going on! His hobbies include all things sports and with that said, GO BRAVES!

Daly Jernigan, RN, has been a part of the Adult OR for a little more than a year. His career prior to the OR was spent in the ED, here at AU. He has truly been a great addition to our team and we are elated to have him. Daly's hobbies include all things golf, he is basically a pro and played some of the CSRA's most prestigious courses.

Both of these guys always strive to do and be their best, and give each and every patient the one on one attention and experience they deserve. The Adult OR wouldn't be the same without them. THANK YOU, Danny and Daly, the Adult OR would be pretty boring without you both 🙌

Meet Jeane “Jellybean” Boja!

Jeane is an international turned permanent RN and has been with AU for a little more than 2 years. She has been an OR nurse for more than 15 years and can scrub and circulate cases 💃🏽 She enjoys doing arts and crafts in her free time. She also loves to read Manga—Japanese comics and romance novels 💕

You can find her on mid-shift, running the show at the front desk 📋

It's Feature Friday✨

Meet Laura Isbel, RN👩🏼‍⚕️

Laura has been with AU for nearly a year. Before becoming an OR nurse she worked on the burn unit, at another local facility, for two years. She enjoys the opportunity the OR provides, not only to care for her patients, but to provide and assist the entire surgery team--something only an OR Circulator can do! We're kind of the OR Heroes, or Heroine in Laura's case, and she makes it look easy💪🏼💅🏼

She specializes in Urology and often assists the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team. While she loves circulating in general, these two specialties have her heart 💗

Meet our "Average Joe"--He is far from average and makes our Cardio/Thoracic world go-round 💖 We are proud to say he has been a part of the Augusta University Health Operating Room since July 2021.

"I've been an OR nurse for 28 years and my specialty is definitely Cardiac & Thoracic surgery! I really like the OR because we truly are a tightly knit team and it's a unique place where I can provide that one-on-one care experience and advocacy to patients when they are most vulnerable, albeit they may not remember due to anesthesia.
