What a fantastic time with Dr Troy Woodard as this months visiting professor. Dr. Woodard is the current President of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and spoke to us on “Turning trials into triumph: lessons learned along the leadership journey.” Troy was our Rhinology fellow finishing in 2009 and it was simply fantastic to have him return and spend time with all of us. We wish him well the remainder of his presidency and continued success at the Cleveland clinic.

Samson, our departments oldest canine member, is celebrating his 16th birthday today. Known to many as being “strong and mighty“ he is patrolling the beach but not finding many squirrels there.
Happy Birthday!

A tremendous time of learning and fellowship was had by many at the International Medical Student Conference in Novi Sad Serbia. Great thanks to Milos Bugarcic who organized this event bringing together more than 400 medical students, dental students, and pharmacy students along with speakers from the United States and Serbia.
Hope to be back again next year.

Arts in the Heart of Augusta festival is always a great weekend.
Amazing food, music, art and this year the famous Miller Theatre was even open to watch the UGA South Carolina football game if you got too warm outside.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Professor Nobuhiko Isshiki (1930–2022) at the age of 92.
Dr Isshiki was a pioneer in phonosurgery and one of the greatest innovators our subspecialty has ever seen. His development and popularization of laryngeal framework surgery forever changed how we manage laryngeal paralysis and paresis. He was an extraordinary teacher and humble man who literally taught hundreds of laryngologists worldwide.
Getting to work in a dissection laboratory at an international meeting in Kuala Lumpur in 2012 remains one of the highlights of my professional career.
Rest in peace Professor.
