An estimated 700 million people worldwide have chronic kidney disease—including 35.5 million people in the United States, or 15 percent of the population. However 9 out of 10 people don't know that they have it, often only finding out when they are in the later stages of the disease. It can be detected by a screening using simple urine and blood tests. This is an important effort of Maine Mobile Health to provide screenings that can help our patients detect these types of diseases. https://www.mainemobile.org/Patients.html

In Maine millions of balsam fir wreaths are made annually, a tradition dating back to at least the 1700s. The Christmas tree industry in the state has an annual economic impact of $18 million supporting over 800 jobs and includes over 100 family farms. We are honored in this holiday season to support the workers and farmers that work in this industry through our mobile health programs.🌲🎄

At Maine Mobile health we take our health services out into the farmworker community. Studies indicate that farmworkers may suffer from higher rates of high blood pressure (hypertension) compared to the general public, especially at younger ages. This can be due to a combination of occupational and social factors, including exposure to extreme heat, pesticides, chronic stress, long working hours, and limited access to healthcare. Their labor is essential for our economy. https://www.mainemobile.org/

Doctors and nurses, we're looking for a few more staff to help us with patients in our mobile clinics. Even a couple of evenings here and there can really make a huge difference. If you have any time availability, let us know. One of our recent physicians said, 'As most of you know, I love working with MMHP - these people and experiences have literally inspired and sustained me as a physician for the last twenty years.' Apple production is in full swing in the state. Maine produces approximately 1 million bushels of apples from more than 80 farms. We are grateful for the opportunity we have to work in communities across the state to support the health of the individuals that harvest our food. https://www.mainemobile.org/Our%20Work.html

The lifetime risk of diabetes diagnosis for Americans is 40%. Two out of every five American adults may be diagnosed. Diabetes screenings can detect prediabetes or diabetes early, often before symptoms appear, allowing for timely interventions like lifestyle changes or medication to prevent or delay serious long-term complications such as heart disease, kidney disease, nerve damage, and vision problems. We are happy to be able to offer this screening to our patients that need it.
