Attention New Grad RNs!

MaineGeneral is looking for new grad RNs who want to join a great team while building their skills for the future!

Kati-Lyn, a new grad RN who joined our team at Gray Birch in December, shared her experience:

“I have been able to really focus on mastering my nursing skills with well-trained and knowledgeable nurses that are always willing to jump right in if I have any questions or if I’m unsure of something. I have learned so much in such a short time.”

Kurt Holtz, RN, was recently awarded the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. Kurt works as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Kurt received a nomination from the parent of a young patient who described his compassionate care.

“We brought our child into the emergency department one night. We were lucky enough to have Kurt provide triage. Our child was not happy to be there and did not enjoy anything being done to her. Kurt attempted to engage her and get her to smile. As her parents, we felt heard, and that our opinions were valued,” the parent said of Kurt’s care.

“They were thorough and efficient in the tasks they needed to complete. At the end, he offered us a quiet spot to wait so she could fall asleep. Kurt then went above and beyond and gave her a stuffed animal to hug during any other procedure she needed. He truly was one of the most compassionate RNs we have encountered. Despite the stressful situation of having a young child in the ED, he made us feel comfortable, and most importantly, valued.”

Congratulations, Kurt, on being awarded the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses! Your patients value your expert and gentle care. Thank you for all you do, every day!
