Meet Kristine Pleacher, MD!

Kristine is a board-certified pediatrician who provides a full spectrum of care to children and young adults at Kennebec Pediatrics in Augusta. She joined MaineGeneral Medical Center's active medical staff in February 2026. Prior to joining MaineGeneral, she treated patients in the mid-coast area as a medical staff member at Midcoast Pediatrics.

She grew up in Long Island, New York, and moved to Maine for her residency. When asked what she does to stay healthy she said, “I exercise, try to get good sleep and eat a balanced diet.”

At home, she enjoys outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, gardening, hiking and being with friends and family.

Kristine finds joy in helping children and their families thrive. “I am excited to begin seeing patients at Kennebec Pediatrics and getting to know the community,” she said.

On Tuesday, March 10, National Histotechnology Professionals Day, we recognized and celebrated our team of histology professionals.

Histology is a department of the laboratory in which tissue samples are carefully processed and transformed into stained microscopic slides for pathologists to review, helping with their diagnoses.

While this important work happens behind the scenes, in many cases, a diagnosis would not be possible without the expertise and dedication of histology professionals.

Histotechnology is a specialized field that requires precision, attention to detail and a deep commitment to quality at every step of the process. Thank you to our MaineGeneral Histology team for their passion for histology, commitment to quality and the care you bring to every specimen. Your expertise and dedication make accurate diagnoses, and the care that follows, possible for our patients every day.

Congratulations to Jamie Costa, concierge at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, on being awarded the Lamplighter Award. Jamie became the second recipient of this award and has been recognized repeatedly by peers, patients, families and community members for his daily impact.

In reviewing all the acknowledgements shared about Jamie and his work, it’s clear that he possesses the high qualities of a Lamplighter: “one who consistently encourages and uplifts others, fosters a positive environment and spreads joy and kindness with every interaction and so much more.”

His teammates at the Cancer Center said they couldn’t be prouder of what he has accomplished and extend their gratitude for making this center, our organization, our community and this world a lot brighter! Congratulations, Jamie!
