Harold “Clarence” Malcom
Harold “Clarence” Malcom, age 72, of Evans, GA, went to be with the Lord on February 11th, 2026. He died peacefully in his home and was surrounded by his beloved family.
Born February 20th, 1953, in Augusta, GA, Clarence lived a life marked by steady devotion—to his family, his work, his friends, and his faith. He was a man of character: faithful, hardworking, ambitious, funny, kind, principled, and those who knew him will remember his radiant personality, his love for cars, and his devotion to his family.
Clarence started his professional life as a laborer at Continental Can Paper Mill where he spent 48 years of service. He worked his way up to Senior Control Room Operator in Coating and Additives, where he truly enjoyed working with each and every person on his crew. Additionally, he owned and operated Southern Paint & Body and Malcom Auto Sales for over 25 years. He enjoyed working and he didn’t want to retire!
Clarence spent his life building a legacy that had nothing to do with titles—and everything to do with love. He was a husband/Daddy/Big Daddy/friend who could and would do anything for anyone, loved going to car shows with his son, and loved spending time at the beach, especially his favorite place, Key West. Clarence was an avid water-skier and enjoyed camping at the lake with his friends and family. He was a lover of old cars, old trucks, and especially Corvettes, where he loved cruising with fellow members of the Grumpy Old Men Corvette Club (GOMCC). He had an infectious personality and was a strong man with a soft heart. He was a generous man that constantly made others laugh and had a way of making ordinary days feel special.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edna and Jim Halverson, and granddaughter, Mackenzie Jo Malcom. . He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 55 years, Karen Malcom; his children, Chris Malcom and wife, Andee of Evans, GA, Jennifer Reeves and husband, Larry of Trenton, SC, and Allyson Fralish and husband, Chris of Thomasville, GA; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hasty and husband, Cameron, Kristin Lewis, Ethan Fralish, Avery Fralish, Madison Malcom, Everett Fralish, and Riley Malcom; his great-grandson, Hudson Hasty, who brought him great joy; his parents, Lloyd and Christine Malcom; and his siblings, Mark Malcom, Jeff Malcom, and Scott Malcom.
A celebration of Clarence’s life will be held February 20th, 2026 (Clarence’s birthday) at 2pm at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Porterfield and Rev. Mac Enfinger officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your mission of choice at Wesley United Methodist Church, where Clarence was a charter member. He was an active member of the Cornerstone Sunday School class and valued the fellowship and community of everyone at Wesley.
We would like to thank Bristol Hospice, especially Alison and Elizabeth, who became a significant part of our family due to the kindness, love, and care that they showed, not only Clarence, but the entire family over the past several months.
We will miss him deeply—and we will carry forward the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control, that he exuded every single day.

Jack Tarlton Mason Sr.

Jack Tarlton Mason Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Hephzibah, Georgia, where he had resided for the past 30 years. He was born on December 12, 1944, in Aiken, South Carolina, and entered eternal rest very peacefully in the loving arms of his family.

Pallbearers will be, Trevor Threet, Jeremy Burton, Jared Mason, Zack Mason, Jordan Mason, Elijah Mason, Jaythan Smith, Connor Burton and Chase Burton.
Jack was the son of Robert Lee Mason and Willie Louise Ingram Mason, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Joyce Roberts Mason, the love of his life and devoted partner of 59½ years; his brother, Rev. Thomas E. Mason Sr. and his wife Thelma who were huge influences in the development of his faith; and his sister, Nina Lee Mason.
Jack and Carolyn built a life deeply rooted in their shared faith, their church family, and a sincere love for others. Their devotion to the Lord guided every aspect of their lives—how they served, how they loved, and how they welcomed others. Faith was not simply something they practiced; it was how they lived. Their home and their church were places of encouragement, hospitality, and steadfast Christian example. Together, they shared a deep love of travel and adventure. They proudly visited all 50 states and traveled abroad to Israel, France, and England. Though they especially cherished the beauty and spirit of the Southwestern United States, home was always Augusta, Georgia, where their hearts, church family, and loved ones remained.
He is survived by his three children: Kimberly Mason Threet (Stephen) of North Augusta, South Carolina; Jack Tarlton Mason Jr. (Susan) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Travis Kevin Mason of Hephzibah, Georgia; as well as his brother, Robert (Bobby) Mason Sr. (Sharon) of Hephzibah, Georgia. He was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Stephanie Threet Burton (Jeremy), Trevor Ryan Threet (Genni Lib), Jared Travis Mason (Britani), Michael Zachary Mason (Triston), Jordan Paul Mason (Emily), Elijah Cole Mason (Cayla), and Jaythan Smith. He was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Connor, Chase, Chesney, Jensen, Stalvey, Gentry, Bethany, Dougie, Waylon, Jaxton, Gatlin, and Hardy, and he eagerly awaited the arrival of a great-granddaughter, Josie.
Jack retired in 2009 from the Savannah River Site, where he served with distinction as an accomplished Laboratory Technician supporting the Tritium Enterprise and the Defense Waste Processing Facility. He was known for his professionalism, dedication, and integrity.
A man of deep faith, Jack loved the Lord wholeheartedly and was extremely knowledgeable of the Bible, which he studied often and with great devotion. He was a faithful servant to his church throughout his life, always willing to sing, teach, encourage, or step forward wherever he was needed. Blessed with a powerful voice that filled the room, he sang in numerous churches, touching countless hearts with his deep, rich spiritual voice and sincere presence.
Jack also had a lifelong love of music and was an accomplished musician, playing both the guitar and the piano. He joyfully passed this gift of music—and the faith behind it—to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, inspiring generations through song, worship, and example.
In 2012, he earned a degree in Theology and faithfully preached as he was called, sharing God’s Word with humility, wisdom, and compassion.
If you met him, you liked him. If you knew him, you loved him.
Jack was a blessing to all who knew him, but especially to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, music, and respect—a legacy carefully built and shepherded through a lifetime of devotion, leadership, and grace. His influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Nelson and Barbara Roberts, Dennis and Amanda Lamb & the Broken Ministries Team, Bible Fellowship Church, Kenny and Jeanie Lamb, Diane Barrett, Jana Smith, Melinda (Voice behind the Box) and the Fifth-Floor Staff at Piedmont Hospital, the Affinis Hospice Staff and Nikki Byrd for their love, care, and support.

The death of a loved one is emotionally devastating and financially difficult. We are compassionate, accommodating, understanding, and welcoming. We are here to serve you with the respect you and your loved one deserve. We strive to lessen the stress, anxiety, and grief that families feel during times of loss. Families can depend on us to plan personal, lasting memorials for their loved ones and our professional staff commits to guide every family through the many hard decisions that must be made during the challenging and emotional time of losing their loved one.

Our funeral chapel is the largest in Augusta, with a seating capacity of 450. We also know it is the little things that our families hold dear, whether through a personal video, a photo collage, or the integration of personal items into the funeral service, we work with families to make each service unique and meaningful.
