Today at noon, Battalion Chief Brian Chamberlin (BCBC) completed his final tour with the Augusta Fire Department, marking the close of a distinguished and honorable career in the fire service.

We had the privilege of recognizing Chief Chamberlin’s many years of dedicated service with a luncheon, where he was presented with a traditional retirement axe on behalf of IAFF Local 1650. This symbol reflects not only his leadership, but also his commitment to the brotherhood, the union, and the citizens of the City of Augusta.

Chief Chamberlin’s impact reaches far beyond the calls he answered. Through his mentorship, professionalism, and unwavering dedication, he has influenced countless members of this department and made a lasting difference in the lives of those he served.

On behalf of IAFF Local 1650, we extend our deepest gratitude and respect. Congratulations on a well-earned retirement, Chief.

And remember—our doors are always open, the coffee is always on, and you are always welcome.

IAFF Local 1650 would like to recognize the outstanding work of Brother O’Hare, Commander of the Honor Guard, and Brother Morton, who recently built and installed a custom flag holder for our Honor Guard flags.
Projects like this reflect the dedication our members continue to show—not only on the job, but in preserving the history and traditions of the fire service. Their craftsmanship and commitment to the Local are greatly appreciated.
Outstanding work, Brothers.

This evening, B Shift welcomed Randy Lewis’s family for dinner as we honored and remembered him one year after his passing. His impact on our crew and department remains strong. Gone, but never forgotten — always our brother.

Today, we pause to honor the one-year anniversary of our brother, Randy Lewis passing. One year ago, we lost not just a firefighter, but a friend, a mentor, and a true example of what this job stands for. He answered every call with courage, wore the badge with pride, and stood shoulder to shoulder with us through the toughest days. His dedication to the job and to this brotherhood/sisterhood will never be forgotten.
Over the past year, we have felt his absence at the station, on the fireground, and in the everyday moments that only those in this profession truly understand. But we have also felt his presence — in the stories we share, in the lessons he taught us, and in the strength we draw from one another.
Please take a moment today to reflect, reach out to one another, and keep his family in your thoughts. Brotherhood doesn’t end — not after a shift, not after retirement, and not even after loss.
Gone, but never forgotten. Always our brother.
