October is a popular time of year for changing leaf colors, cooler temperatures and football, but it’s most popular for trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving and displaying Halloween decorations. To keep your loved ones safe from burn and wound injuries this month, it’s important to follow these simple Halloween safety recommendations.

Being mindful of these tips can help prevent unwanted fires and burn and wound injuries; however, if an injury does occur, we encourage patients to seek medical attention. For more information about BRCA’s services, physicians and locations, please visit www.burncenters.com or call (855) 863-9595.

Have fun and stay safe!

Our Story

The philosophy of Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America is simple: We provide treatment to patients no matter their gender, age, mechanism of injury or ability to pay.

This goal has been the cornerstone of our burn centers since the first patient was treated at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, in 1978. That single patient set the process in motion to establish what would become the nation’s largest burn center. Along with that growth came the need to bring our care closer to our patients via satellite clinics across the Southeast.

From the outset, our physicians banded together to create Physicians’ Multispecialty Group to provide patient care. PMG evolved into Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc., the forerunner of BRCA.

BRCA continues to grow and partner with hospitals across the country to provide patient access to a continuum of care that supports the patient from initial injury through long-term rehabilitation, while ensuring no patient is turned away. We provide quality burn, hand, wound and reconstructive care to patients through new facilities, new partnerships and the latest advancements in care. BRCA is the nation’s largest burn network with almost 340 beds and 15 facilities spread over eight states including Idaho, Colorado, Texas, Nevada, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. The cornerstone of the network, JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, sits as the largest individual center in America with 92 total beds, including 36 in the Intensive Care Unit.
