I still remember my very first day of residency, walking into the hospital with my long white coat on, terrified. I felt like an imposter, certain everyone could tell I had no idea what I was doing. That day was 10 years ago. And guess what? I made it through. Then I made it through the next day, and the week after that. Residency is hard. You won’t know everything and you’re not supposed to. It’s OK if you have to look up the Tylenol dose (it’s 650–1000 mg PRN, by the way). It’s OK to ask questions. It’s OK to feel overwhelmed. With time, hard work, and the support of your co-residents, faculty and family, you will start to feel like you belong. Because you do. To all the new interns… welcome. You are not alone. You’ve earned your place here, and you’re going to grow into an incredible physician. One day at a time. 💪🏼✨
