🔥 Joe’s Incredible Recovery Journey 🔥

When Joe first came to us following a stroke that affected his right side, he faced tremendous challenges. He required a modified diet to prevent aspiration, had difficulty reading and communicating, and needed moderate assistance for transfers and walking. His balance score on the Tinetti was just 7 out of 28.

Through hard work, determination, and the dedication of his therapy team, Joe has made remarkable progress! 🙌

✨ Today, Joe enjoys a regular diet, communicates clearly, and can read and express himself with confidence. Inspired by his Speech-Language Pathologist Lindsey, Joe proudly says, “I am on fire!”and we couldn’t agree more!

🏃‍♂️ Physically, his progress is equally inspiring:
• Tinetti score: up from 7 → 17
• Walking distance: increased from 150 ft (with minimal assist) → 300 ft (with supervision)
• Right shoulder range of motion: improved from 0–60° → 0–86°
• Transfers: now at supervision level

Joe’s journey is a true testament to perseverance, teamwork, and the healing power of skilled rehabilitation. Way to go, Joe we are so proud of you! 💪❤️

Supporting Future Healthcare Professionals!
Lowry Hills proudly hosted Amber W., a student from DeVry University, for an 8-week learning experience with our Medical Records Manager, Daisy D.
Amber’s time with us was filled with hands-on learning, collaboration, and insight into the important role medical records play in providing quality patient care. A special thank you to Daisy for mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals and to Amber for bringing such enthusiasm to our team!

What a spooktacular time we had at our Lowry Hills Trunk or Treat! The joy and laughter of the Halloween season filled the air as our residents and community kids came together for a night of fun, costumes, and candy.
We’re so grateful to everyone who helped bring this festive event to life your creativity and spirit made it truly special. Events like these remind us how important it is to celebrate together, to connect, and to share in the simple joys that brighten our days.

LOWRY HILLS LEGENDS
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT: LEE L.
Born in 1951 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado, Lee's journey has been anything but ordinary.
Barely out of the maternity ward, his family was already on the move setting the tone for a life filled with adventure. At just 19, Lee married for the first time and soon after joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving from 1973 to 1976. During that time, he discovered one of his lifelong passions motorcycles and bought the first of several bikes he would own and rebuild over the years.
After completing his military service, Lee explored many different jobs until, by happy accident, he found his calling as a Picture Framer. What began as just another job quickly became a craft he loved. He enjoyed helping people preserve their most treasured memories and, after a few years, became a Certified Picture Framer, excelling in both skill and artistry.
In 2013, life changed when his beloved wife, Patricia, became ill. Lee devoted himself completely to her care until her passing in 2022. Shortly after, his own health challenges began, including back surgery and a broken femur that led him to Lowry Hills Rehabilitation & Care in 2024.
Today, Lee continues to bring his humor, creativity, and storytelling spirit to those around him. “Life in a nursing home can become boring if you let it,” Lee says, “but you have to find something that fills the hours and gives you hope. Even though our younger days are behind us, life still holds surprises.”
Known by some as “HardLee-Dangerous,” Lee reminds us that passion and purpose don’t retire they evolve.

We are so grateful for our incredible Respiratory Therapy team at Lowry Hills Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program keeping our patients breathing easier every day.
In skilled nursing facilities, many of our patients live with complex comorbidities that make breathing a challenge. Respiratory therapists play a critical role in improving quality of life, helping patients regain strength, manage chronic conditions, and feel more independent.
Thank you to our RTs for the dedication, expertise, and heart you bring to our community. Because of you, our patients breathe better and live better! 💙

Meet Dawn – Our Social Services Director
Born in Las Vegas and raised in Boston, Dawn eventually made her way to Colorado by way of New Mexico, where she lived for seven years. She earned her degree in Small Business Management from Burdette College and went on to manage several business offices before choosing to stay home and raise her five children.
When she re-entered the workforce, Dawn took an unexpected path as a bartender an experience she swears was “perfect training” for her future in healthcare. She began her career at Bethany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the business office, but with encouragement from a co-worker, transitioned into social services just one year later and never looked back.
Now with 13 years of experience, Dawn brings both her East Coast sass and her unwavering dedication to resident advocacy. She works tirelessly to ensure our residents and their families feel supported and cared for every single day.
Outside of work, Dawn is a proud “Abi” (Abuelita) to her four grandsons. She loves thrifting, cooking, and creating unique tinctures, salves, and other homemade goodies in her kitchen.
We are so grateful to have Dawn on our team. Her compassion, expertise, and commitment make her an incredible asset to our residents, their families, and our entire community.
