Welcome to the last “Ingredient of the Week” spotlight of the year, witches! This week we will discuss a crystal classic, Fluorite.

Fluorite correlates with the heart, throat, brow, and crown chakras. This crystal is associated with the zodiac signs of Capricorn and Pisces and its planetary ruler is Mercury. Fluorite’s elemental is Air and it vibrates to the numbers 7 and 9.

New to our haus plant selections, Philodendron Birkin Galaxy boasts glossy, dark green leaves that are highlighted by striking creamy yellow or light green pinstripes, giving it a sophisticated appearance. The variegation pattern is unique to each leaf, with the stripes becoming more pronounced and intricate as the plant matures. Unlike its family members, this philodendron is not a climber. Instead it grows like a small bushy shrub, reaching 2 to 3 feet in both height and diameter when mature.

Philodendron Birkin Galaxy prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its unique coloring. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch their leaves. Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix. This haus plant prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH levels. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating at the bottom. Water your Birkin when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Ideal temperatures range between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C). These tropical plants enjoy high humidity, between 50-60%, but can adapt to average household humidity levels. For added humidity, mist the leaves regularly, place a humidifier nearby, or set the plant on a pebble tray tilled with water.

Welcome to this week’s “Ingredient of the Week” spotlight, witches! This week we will cover one of our more illuminating ingredients, Vesta Powder!

Vesta Powder is a potent ritual substance traditionally used in spiritual practices for purification, banishing, and energetic clearing. When sprinkled over a flame, it produces a dramatic flash—symbolizing the immediate release of stagnant energy and the activation of spiritual force. Often used in protective rituals, home cleansings, and magical workings, Vesta Powder is ideal for clearing space before spellwork or invoking divine presence at the start of a ceremony. It is especially valued in rootwork, hoodoo, and ceremonial magic for its ability to set intentions ablaze—literally and energetically.

Sprinkle a small amount into a flame (such as a candle or charcoal burner) to produce a flash of fire. Use with intention during cleansing, protection, or banishing rituals. Handle with care and keep away from flammable materials. Not for ingestion. Store in a cool, dry place and always use in a well-ventilated area.

We’ll go over charms, talismans, rituals, washes and waters, smoke, and spirits. We’ll look at ways to detect whether you’ve been hexed or if that negativity is from somewhere else. Welcome to this week’s “Ingredient of the Week” spotlight, witches! This week we’ll feature a Curio Bar classic, Bat’s Head Root.

Bat’s Head Root is a unique botanical used in witchcraft, voodoo, and hoodoo traditions. Though often called a root, it’s actually a seed pod, named for its striking resemblance to a bat’s head.
