Here at Hoof + Horn we pride ourselves on being a diverse, inclusive witch shop where we truly believe that “Witch” is a lifestyle and a state of mind.

We aren’t just about candles and herbs. Our shop has a beautiful selection of tropical houseplants and alternative home decor to help turn your home into your sanctuary.

Our storefront has the largest apothecary in the greater Chicagoland area, with over 100 botanicals available by the ounce. A wide range of curio, books, tumbled crystals, candles, herb bundles and ritual + divination tools make for a true one-stop magical shopping experience.

We offer a full spectrum line of haus-made occult botanical products, including organic tea blends, condition oils, herbal incense, ritual bath salts, crystal elixir + essential oil room sprays and more!

Besides being the area’s largest storefront, we also strive to be one of the leaders in occult education and knowledge. Each season offers a new and exciting opportunity to join us for a calendar of curated classes, workshops and special events. We have an amazing team of haus readers that specialize in astrology, tarot, palmistry and other traditional forms of divination to help guide you through life’s transitions.

Welcome to this week’s , witches! This week we will introduce you all to one of our more exciting, lively ingredients, Rose of Jericho.

Rose of Jericho, also known as Flor de Jericho or Resurrection Plant, is a unique and ancient plant is known for its ability to revive itself after periods of drought, making it a symbol of resurrection and renewal. The Rose of Jericho is a powerful tool for purification and protection rituals, as well as for promoting growth and change in your life.

Bringing dormant rose of jericho is easy! First, fill a bowl with enough purified water to cover the plant once it opens. Glass bowls are preferred, but any sealed or glazed bowl with non-toxic material will suffice. Cleanse the bowl before adding the water with either holy water or smoke.

Next, hold the plant in your hands and connect with its energy. Engage in spiritual practices such as meditation, prayer, chanting, or visualization to awaken the plant. Once you feel the energy of the plant, place it in the bowl of water. The plant should begin to open and come back to life in a matter of hours or days. Once fully opened, the water is then used for its mystical qualities and is sprinkled around the house to erase negative influences and bring peace, harmony, and abundance.

We wanted to give all of you an advanced invitation to our NEW seasonal reinvention of a traditional book club… Join us Friday February 20th for our Winter Grimoire Share!

“The very first of its kind, HOOF + HORN is proud to introduce the Community Grimoire Project, a seasonal party where all are welcome to hang out, socialize, and add a spell or ritual they’ve personally worked into the Community Grimoire. 

We ask all witches to bring a typed and printed spell, ritual, or working you have performed, including a supply list, lunar and astrological timing, and results, to the party. A note about anything tradition-specific will also help community members add context to the entry (at H+H we are blessed with a community that draws on magical traditions from all across the world). Don’t forget to add your name, magical or legal, to your submission! 

All entries will be collated and preserved, with contributed calligraphy, illumination, and illustratration by Shop Witch Adrian. The Community Grimoire will be on display in the storefront for all to peruse and learn from between the seasonal Grimoire Shares.”

Some other folk names for this plant include Chafe W**d, Everlasting, Field Balsam, Indian Posy, Old Field Balsam, Sweet Scented Life-Everlasting, and White Balsam. Life Everlasting is a feminine herb. Her planetary rulers are the Sun and Venus and her element is Air.

Life everlasting is used in spells for longevity, as well as for restoring youth. It is kept in the home to prevent sickness and ill-health. Life everlasting can be burned for for psychic development and spirit communication. It is also carried to promote wisdom.
