Dr. Scott Mann has been named the Chair-Elect of the American Academy of Otolaryngology's Trauma Committee. One of the many goals of this committee is to educate and update the Otolaryngology community regarding the state-of-the-art evaluation, emergency management, and reconstruction of head and neck trauma.

Dr. Brian Cervenka has been named the Chair-Elect of the American Academy of Otolaryngology's Microvascular Committee. This committee is charged with promoting the development of clinical excellence and basic science research in the field of microvascular free tissue transfer through meetings of surgeons.

Shaylene Denham, our Clinical Research Coordinator, represented our department at a recent campus block party. Our department hosted a booth focused on general research. It was a great success not only in recruiting research study participants, but also in representing the broader scope of research happening within our department. We were able to engage meaningfully with the community, raise awareness about our work, and provide guidance on how individuals can find us and get involved in research initiatives.

She served as a course director, lecturer and learner for a course hosted by KLS titled "HeRSMILE: Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgeons Maxillomandibular Immediate Jaw Reconstruction Learning Experience." She was also invited as both a session moderator and speaker for the 10th World Congress of the International Academy of Oral Oncology (IAOO2025) in Liverpool, UK.
