OVDRA Board Member, Dr. Philip Bugaiski, FOVDR recently visited the Midwestern University Chicago College Of Optometry as part of the Tour de Optometry.

Each academic year, the OVDRA Board of Directors and some Past Presidents visit optometry schools across North America to share the message about practicing vision therapy.

The speakers' goals are to show students what vision therapy can do for their future practices, to share the difference vision therapy can make in the lives of their future patients, and to tell them how OVDRA can help them achieve both.

Please join us in wishing OVDRA Executive Director, Katie Kirschner, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Did the groundhog see his shadow? 🐹☀️ Whether we’re in for six more weeks of winter or an early spring, one thing is certain: vision is about more than just seeing 20/20!

Just like Punxsutawney Phil needs to spot his shadow, our eyes need to work together to perceive depth, shadows, and the world around us. If you or your child struggle with light sensitivity, depth perception, or tracking, it might be more than just a "shadow" of a problem.

At OVDRA, we’re dedicated to improving lives through developmental vision care and vision therapy and rehabilitation. Don’t stay in the dark about your vision health!

February is Low Vision Awareness Month!

Each year, February is dedicated to raising awareness about vision impairment that cannot be corrected by glasses, medicine, or surgery. Millions of Americans live with low vision, often caused by conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and many are unaware of the rehabilitation services available to help them maintain independence and quality of life.

Awareness matters. Early detection matters. And support matters.

Low vision rehabilitation, including individualized visual strategies, adaptive techniques, and in some cases Vision Therapy support, can help patients maximize their remaining vision and function more confidently in daily life.

If you or someone you know is experiencing vision challenges, don’t wait. Use our Locate A Doctor tool to find a Developmental Optometrist near you and explore your options.

Together, we can bring greater awareness, earlier intervention, and meaningful support to those living with low vision.

Happy National Pie Day! 😍😁😎

(You're Welcome!)

In Vision Therapy and Developmental Optometry, we’re always looking at how all the “pieces” of the visual system fit together, be it eyes, brain, body, perception, and experience. When each slice is working in harmony, the whole picture comes into focus.

So today, whether it’s apple, cherry, or key lime, here’s to celebrating good vision, good teamwork, and a life where everything comes together just right. Because when the visual system is integrated, the result is as satisfying as the perfect piece of pie.
