Chelsea Place Memory Care

Chelsea Place Memory Care Chelsea Place Memory Care in Aurora, Colorado, provides specialized care for individuals with dementia-related memory loss.

Our community offers a supportive and compassionate environment designed to meet the unique needs of memory care residents. At Chelsea Place we are known for encouraging a high level of social interaction within and outside our community. We do this because we know that interaction is so important to helping people with cognitive impairment reconnect with themselves, their family members, and with

everyone around them. We give special focus to intergenerational interaction opportunities through regular visits to the local elementary school. These visits often stir memories that residents will share with children. There is always much laughter and joy, from young and old. But calm, rejuvenating interactions are also important. And we take our residents to enjoy regular walks at nearby Cherry Creek Park and Reservoir where they can stop to smell the flowers in bloom and experience the changing seasons.

There’s something quietly remarkable about a group of senior men gathered around wood, tools, and a shared purpose. The work itself holds a deeper meaning: care for the world just outside the window, and for each other.

Hi Families,
We are wanting to do a posterboard of the residents with their graduation pictures. We think it would be a really cool idea to play "Guess the Graduate" in May. If you could please drop off a picture of your loved one at the front desk, that would be wonderful. It can be from any grade or even from military training.

Caring for a loved one with dementia can feel overwhelming as families face memory loss and unexpected behavior changes.

What’s important to understand is that these changes aren’t intentional. They are caused by physical changes in the brain. Recognizing this can shift family caregivers away from frustration towards understanding, helping them to better support, communicate, and connect with their loved one.

So what are these changes to the brain that occur with dementia?

Families of loved ones with dementia often feel confused and overwhelmed as they struggle to comprehend that memory lapses, unpredictable behaviors, and personality changes are not things that can be controlled; they are the result of physical damage to the brain’s neurons. If you have a family me...
