Today, certified nurse-midwives and certified midwives are highly educated and skilled healthcare providers. Midwives can provide a full range of primary health care services in all stages of life, from the teenage years through menopause.

Can midwifery-led care lower the chances of a C-section?

CU College of Nursing Jessica Anderson DNP, CNM, WHNP, FACNM, and Denise C. Smith, PhD, CNM teamed up with researchers from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the University of Washington to find out. They found midwives play a key role in improving birth outcomes — including fewer unplanned cesarean births.

Ages 21-64 (cervical)
Ages 40-64 (breast)
Colorado resident
Income ≤ 250% FPL
Consent to participate
