Dr. Amanda Lowe

Dr. Lowe is a licensed clinical professional counselor and the founder of East Aurora Counseling, LTD. She graduated with a bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1990 from Indiana State University and in 2001 with a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Benedictine University. In 2005 she became a certified Pre-Therapy trainer and in 2012 she obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology from Capella University. As a long time resident of East Aurora, Dr. Lowe has worked in the Aurora school district for nearly a decade as an experienced child-centered play therapist (CCPT). She is well-known locally and internationally as an expert in Pre-Therapy, Play Therapy, and as an LGBTQ population advocate. Dr. Lowe believes that each therapeutic relationship strives to form an unconditional positive regard for both the client and clinician as well as a feeling of congruence and empathy.

Dr. Lowe specializes in the psychotic process (i.e. schizophrenic and manic episodes) and has a sub-specialization in gender transitions, eating disorders, and sexual abuse in males. She also has vast experience working with individuals for issues such as, but not limited to:


  • Adjustment disorders

  • Mood disorders
