Sneak peak on new ornaments for the holidays... these are in production! Hubby teased that I needed to make some Krampus pieces. I also wanted to bring more pieces to honor the Holy Family to bring love and light to this holiday season. It is a contrast to embrace the traditions of days past.
I will have my beautiful spoon ornaments, new hand painted wood slices, Christmas spiders, Christmas bells and these guys. The Krampus and pretty acrylic transfer pieces will get finishing touches to make them sparkle n shine. All Krampus ornaments will come with the legend.
Krampus originates from the old traditions of the Alpine regions of Europe, where he was a figure associated with winter solstice celebrations. His name comes from the Old High German word "krampen," meaning "claw". Krampus was later integrated into Christian traditions as the dark counterpart to the kind St. Nicholas. While St. Nicholas rewards good children, Krampus punishes the naughty ones. On the eve of St. Nicholas Day, December 5th, a night known as Krampusnacht, the two figures visit homes. Children might find treats in their shoes if they behaved, while naughty children would find a bundle of birch branches, or face Krampus himself.
