George R.’s presentation on his 14,000-mile journey back to Fiji unfolded like a heartfelt homecoming, rich with memory and meaning. As a young man, he had traveled to the islands and fallen in love with Violet, whose warmth, spirit, and deep family roots shaped his life. His recent return—undertaken to visit Violet’s gravesite and reconnect with her large extended family—became far more than a long-distance trip. It was a pilgrimage through places that held their shared history, a chance to honor her legacy, and an opportunity to feel once again the embrace of the community that had welcomed him decades earlier. Through stories, photos, and quiet reflections, George conveyed how the journey stitched together past and present, grief and gratitude, in a way only Fiji could.

A huge thank you to Elvis for visiting Parkside Village Happy Hour, bringing an energy that had residents truly “All Shook Up,” especially Elvis’s biggest fan, Sandy, who lit up the room the moment he walked in. His charisma, music, and warm presence turned an ordinary afternoon into a memory everyone will be talking about for a long time.
