The majority of chronic conditions and injury today are a result of an underlying imbalance of muscle tension around a joint. This affects our posture and the way we move in our environment creating excessive compression and fraying of soft tissues.
❗️Most chiros just push you back into position. This doesn’t work if unbalanced muscles are pulling those bones back out of position. Over time without corrective exercise, the muscles become overstretched and allow the joints to fall out of place easier, ultimately making you rely on your chiro to keep you in place your whole life.
❗️Most yoga teaches you to use diaphragmatic breathing in a semi-stagnant state to elongate and relax the muscles. While this may help to decompress joints for a few days (or hours), it does not teach you how to use the diaphragm and joints together properly in a realistic environment. Over time, this result in the same temporary results and hyper-mobility frequent adjustments will give you.
❗️Stretches help to relieve an overactive muscle but does not teach or tone the muscle to hold that corrected position permanently also resulting you over relaxed and weak.
✅While all methodology has its place in certain situations, the only way to get permanent results is to find movements or exercise progressions SPECIFIC TO YOUR BODY that both relaxes overactive muscles and tightens weak or under active muscles. Teaching a person body awareness and how to train with specific intent is key to rebalancing the body. This may be difficult with soft tissue complications like impinged nerves and myofascial tightness. Release methods such as massage, trigger point therapy, active release therapy, body tempering, flossing, and scraping may help to gain sensation at the muscles, decrease pain, and encourage full range of motion at tight joints.
Biomechanics specialists and a combination of very selective chiros, trainers, and therapists will be able to figure out the right balance of all methodology to get you to where you should be.
