Description: The Section of Pediatric Plastic Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery and Department of Surgery has an opening for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position at the rank of Research Fellow. The Division is committed to improving the health of children by fostering and promoting a culture of academic and clinical excellence. The selected candidate will report to the Chief of Pediatric Plastic Surgery, Dr. Phuong Nguyen, and will be expected to produce a minimum of 3-5 podium presentations, 5 publications, and 2 first authorships. This position will commit to at least one year of employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Authoring scientific abstracts and manuscripts.
Presenting results at regional and national conferences.
Constructing and submitting grant applications to local and national funding agencies.
Developing Internal Review Board applications for research studies.
Coordinating and managing ongoing research projects including other research personnel.
Maintenance of clinical and research databases.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Education: Current Medical Student with interest in eventual matriculation into plastic surgery residency
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in an academic or research environment.
Previous experience performing statistical analyses for clinical research.
Previous experience leading scientific manuscripts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated skills in problem solving.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other members of a research team.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Motivated, strong work ethic, attention to detail, interest in learning new skills and scientific discovery.
Anticipated Pay Range:
Salary will be commensurate with training level and experience.
Pre-doctoral fellow: $39,253.30 stipend
