The shift to outpatient orthopedic surgery isn’t just a trend—it’s better for patients. 🏥✨

Dr. Earl Kilbride recently joined Becker’s Healthcare Podcast to discuss why more procedures are moving to ambulatory surgery centers, including total shoulder replacements that were only recently taken off the inpatient-only list.

The benefits? Less time in the hospital, more efficient care, and often lower out-of-pocket costs for patients. At Austin Orthopedic Institute, we’re leading this shift toward outpatient excellence—and incorporating innovative treatments like peripheral nerve stimulation for chronic pain management.

“The literature shows that it can be done safely, and the literature shows that it’s definitely more efficient,” says Dr. Kilbride. “The bottom line is patients are doing at least as good—and quite honestly, when they’re paying 20% of an overall bill, it’s probably cheaper for them in their pockets.”

Dr. Kilbride was the first orthopedist in Texas to offer peripheral nerve stimulation, demonstrating our commitment to bringing cutting-edge treatment options to Central Texas.
