Late post from Instagram - Life update!! I started my own practice on May 27, 2022!
Teenage Sarah is so proud rn!!!!!!🥹 Y’all are looking at the excited face of Sarah Shah, LPC, OFFICIALLY the owner and psychotherapist at Sarah Shah, LPC PLLC!! 🤩😁
It ended up taking me a lot longer to make this jump than I thought it would. I’ve dreamed of owning my own practice since I decided to become a therapist, but when the time came I found myself feeling anxious and having thoughts of imposter syndrome creeping in.
My perfectionist part wanted everything to be “just right” before I transitioned, and since that’s just not possible, I found myself feeling stuck and also needing comfort and safety. So I leaned in to that need and stayed at AFC longer, and I don’t regret it one bit bc I really gave myself what I needed.
Through this process of creating my own practice, I find myself continuously reminding that teenage part of me that I don’t need to have it all figured out (which is definitely hard). I don’t need to be the “best”, I just need to try my best, and that looks different everyday.
I’m forever grateful to my AFC fam for helping me grow and learn in such a safe and encouraging environment and all my mentors, friends, and family that have helped me get here ❤️❤️❤️
