In times of harsh winter weather, preparedness is key. It’s important for long-term care facilities and other agencies to review and update emergency plans in preparation for freezing temperatures and snow. Emergency plans for extreme weather should address the following:

- Power loss
- Water, food and medication needs
- Communication to residents, families and staff
- Staffing shortages
- Sheltering in place and evacuation, as applicable

Long-term care facilities can view core emergency preparedness elements by visiting southcentralqinqio.org/link?u=515823.

Happy Friday!
We made it. YOU made it.

As the year winds down, think of exercise not as a chore, but as a gift to your mind and body.
Pair your workout with your favorite playlist or audiobook or choose activities that feel like play (think dance or gaming workouts). A little reframing can make movement something you look forward to.

radon levels tend to spike in winter?
When windows stay shut and the ground is frozen, radon gas gets trapped indoors more easily. The “stack effect” — where warm air rises and lowers pressure in the basement — pulls even more radon from the soil into your home. ❄️🏠

That’s why winter is the best time to test for radon. It shows the highest levels your home might reach.
Protect your health and peace of mind. Consider scheduling a radon test this season! https://www.cdc.gov/radon/testing/index.html
