New season. New year. New sign, first degree.

The new moon in Aries is an ecstatic opening to the next season of life.

Some of us might feel hurried, rushed, or urgently behind about some supposed thing that “should have” been done by now.

Others are swept up in the excitement of all that “newness”, easily glossing over some of the practical details.

That’s Aries, through and through.

But who can really move forward without a little kick in the ass? And who among us would willfully submit to the path ahead with full awareness of all the twists, turns, detours, falls, and get-back-up-agains we’ll take along the way?

It’s all fun and games.

This is the New Moon in Aries. Happy new year.

Horoscopes will be released in just 4 more hours. I can’t wait to see what you think!

The spring equinox in the northern hemisphere is a time of renewal and beginning again through the first sign of the zodiac. This is the true astrological new year and an ideal time to set intentions, take initiative, and pursue new goals. The Sun is exalted in Aries, increasing in heat and warm splendor. So too do we bustle with spring fever.

The subsequent new moon tomorrow on March 21 occurs immediately at 49 minutes Aries. The first degree of any sign - but particularly this first sign of zodiac - is a hallmark of a significant beginning or consciousness shift. Conjunct Mercury, we excitedly (or hurriedly) thinking and talking all about what we can and will do over the next cycle.

Pluto days away from its shift into Aquarius signals that we are indeed about to step into a sense of freedom we’ve been craving since 2020. But don’t forget - it retrogrades back into the final degrees of Capricorn by mid June of this year. The innocence of Aries launches us forward enthusiastically, but Pluto’s path indicates there are depths still left undiscovered.

Inevitably stones are left unturned. Transcending only limitations only creates new ones. But the key to this energy is to keep pace with what is alive right now, not yesterday or tomorrow.

This is Aries season.

Venus returns to cushy Ta**us where it can rest in creature comforts. This is the home sign of Venus, the planet of pleasure, bonding, money, food, and the senses. Generally this will indicate a more peaceful time in relationships, and a more relaxed approach to the day’s demands. The polarities are possible as usual: financial gain (like a bonus from work) or excess spending (blowing said bonus). This is the right time to indulge in a good meal, particularly home cooked. This is not the time to indulge to the point of excess (cue the Sun still in Pisces).

Potentials that are either supported or more likely during this transit:

- Getting a raise, promotion, bonus, or extra check
- Nurturing your savings or making a big purchase
- Doing a spring refresh on your wardrobe
- Trying a new hair or makeup style
- Gardening, nature time
- Enjoying good food

On March 30, Venus will meet Uranus in Ta**us while the moon opposes Pluto. It’s setup to be an emotionally revelatory day.

If you have a night chart (born at night), then Venus is your most benefic planet, making this one of the best times of year for you with the morning star in her home sign!

Right out of the gate Mercury enters the sign of its fall through Pisces. Traditionally, this isn’t considered an ideal spot for analytical, quick-on-its-feet Mercury. But like all things Piscean, there’s more than meets the eye. This transit turns the dial up on imaginative and creative thinking. It will also amplify compassion for self and others. Overall this is a supportive mental-plane energy for clearing out all the unuseful thoughts or ideas that we’ve carried over from 2022.

But traditional astrology obviously has a leg to stand on, so shadowy Mercury in fall might look like: being totally unrealistic, dreaming the day away, lavish plans with missed details, forgetting appointments, aesthetic repairs to your car, getting lost with bad GPS, self-pitying thoughts, and not being truthful even if to spare someone’s feelings.

If there were ever a month of crescendo, it’s this one.

Among the most noteworthy of shifts, we have Saturn into Pisces after it’s long 3 year transit through Aquarius. Later, Pluto tests the wind with its first breach into Aquarius since 1777. By the end of the month, Mars finally leaves Gemini after an extended 7 month stay.

March 20th marks the astrological new year with the Sun’s ingress into Aries. Forget the Gregorian calendar - this equinox point is the true mark of a new year in solar time. With all planets direct and many in new signs, there couldn’t be a better time to envision your trajectory, set intentions, and pursue new endeavors.

WHICH IS WHY I have not released my annual horoscopes for 2023 yet. Well first of all, I’m not done yet (you try writing 30 page reports for 12 signs by yourself while still working a 9-5!). But second of all, I knew deep in my heart that it simply was not time to release them at the normal anticipated time of January. Back then, everything was retrograde, the transits were intense, we were too far away from the real opening of this year.

Now is your last chance to sign up for the waitlist to be notified of the imminent release of On The Horizon: The 2023 Forecast this month. Believe me, every word will resound with resonance as you navigate the most active period of this year. Plus, each guide for every sign remains a relevant and useful tool for over one year from today. I’ve included predictions for each major planet for the entire duration of their transits (carrying us through to May 2024 at a minimum).

You can sign up at the link in my bio.

Meanwhile, this is what’s On the Horizon in March.

Mercury through Aquarius gives rationality, original ideas, and clear thought. Aquarius, with its Saturnian rulership, is about taking innovative and ahead-of-their-time ideas and structuring them into palpable frameworks and ideologies so they can be easily received by many people. So over the next month, we are wrestling with concepts (originally identified at the new moon in Aquarius) which we intend to make more robust, using them both to make sense for ourselves and to benefit others.

This particular transit of Mercury through Aquarius will start first with a square to the nodal axis, then later move on to a conjunction with Saturn. To me this suggests a number of obstacles or roadblocks in achieving that kind of mental clarity that the masses can readily accept. Sometimes a bright idea strikes in the moment, but it evolves or unfolds as quickly as it emerged. Alternatively, what we propose is so revelatory that it’s shocking, and so we encounter push back or rejection. In other cases, insight pierces the veil of the status quo, of our familiar, comfortable territory. To accept it at every level would be to erupt our stable footing.
