Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Bastrop Health Center open house yesterday! We were excited to welcome the community in and share our expanded space and services.

Attendees included valued community partners like Any Baby Can, Austin American-Statesman, Bastrop County Cares, Lone Star Circle of Care, Bastrop ISD, and the Breast Cancer Resource Center along with representatives from and our CommUnityCare Board.

We’re also grateful for the strong presence from our CommUnityCare team, with leadership, staff, and partners coming together to connect with the community we serve.

Access to care should feel safe. 🏥🤝

Tara Trower, deputy CEO of CommUnityCare Health Centers, shared how expanded telehealth options are helping patients concerned about in-person visits get the care they need.

“[Patients] feel safe coming in for care here because we don’t ask for anything, we deliver care regardless,” Trower said.

With record use of telehealth and ongoing efforts to address misinformation, CommUnityCare continues working to ensure patients can access care without fear.

Since Gov. Greg Abbott ordered Texas hospitals to start asking patients for their citizenship status in November 2024, reported visits by undocumented immigrants have dropped.

Exciting progress is underway in Central Austin! 🏥✨

CommUnityCare Health Centers is beginning the transition of services to the new Central Health Hancock campus—bringing expanded access to care, modern facilities, and improved coordination for our community.

Starting in April 2026, services will roll out in phases, with the David Powell Health Center among the first to relocate. Patients will continue to receive care at current locations until their services officially move, with updates and guidance shared every step of the way.

This transformation marks a major investment in strengthening the health care safety net for Travis County and building a healthier, more equitable future for all.

🧪🗓️ The last day for lab services at David Powell Health Center will be April 13, 2026. Starting April 14, patients will need to visit another Quest lab. We recommend choosing less busy locations like Capital Plaza Specialty Clinic, Carousel Pediatrics: North Lamar, or Care Connections for a smoother experience.
