The inaugural Heartbeat Gala, hosted by the Hidalgo-Starr Counties Medical Society, united physician sponsors and community leaders for an evening of elegance and connection. Guests, including TMA Alliance President Joi Smith and President-Elect Lydia Soldano, enjoyed live music, a vibrant silent auction, and a captivating live art painting by artist Cecilia Garza.

The evening honored the impactful work of the Hidalgo-Starr CMS Alliance to serve the Rio Grande Valley and celebrated leadership excellence with special awards presented to HSCMS President Carlos H. Palacio, MD, and TMA Alliance President Joi Smith.

Congratulations to Moises Correa, winner of the TMA Special Funds Foundation NTSP Medical Student Scholarship. Moises is passionate about using his talents to give back to his community and hopes to continue that work after medical school. “My long-term goal as a primary care physician is to practice medicine in North Texas and volunteer with free clinics to care for patients who cannot afford care,” he shared.
