Another cooking challenge is in the books!

Omar, the winner from our last challenge, picked this round’s theme and we had the chance to showcase some creative sandwiches! Our team brought their A-game, and while every entry was fantastic, Destiny took home the top prize with her Pambazo.

These quarterly cooking challenges are one of our favorite traditions. They give our staff a chance to bring a little friendly competition into the workday and show off skills we don’t get to see in the clinic. Every time, we’re blown away by the creativity, talent, and commitment that shine through.

Last month, Arch Manning and Warby Parker paid a special visit to half Helen as part of the Warby Parker Pupils Project! This event was a special version of our Vision Field Trips. Students received comprehensive eye exams, picked out new glasses, and participated in several educational and artistic projects that made the day even more memorable.

Happy Halloween from half Helen! Here are a few eye-safety tips to keep your night frightfully fun:

Avoid costume contact lenses unless prescribed by an eye doctor. Over-the-counter lenses can cause serious infections or eye damage.

Use makeup safely! Choose hypoallergenic, non-toxic face paints, and make sure to remove all makeup before bed to prevent irritation.

Stay visible at night, reflective tape on costumes or glow sticks can help trick-or-treaters be seen by drivers.
