Celebrating Histopathology Professionals Day 🔬
Earlier this week on March 10, we recognized Histopathology Professionals Day and took a moment to celebrate the incredible work of our Histotechnician, Britni.

From carefully preparing tissue samples to producing the high-quality slides our pathologists rely on, Britni’s precision, dedication, and expertise help turn tiny sections of tissue into life-saving diagnoses every day.

Histopathology professionals play a vital behind-the-scenes role in patient care, ensuring every specimen is processed with accuracy so providers can deliver the answers patients need.

Thank you, Britni, for your hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence. We’re grateful to have you on our team!

Today, on Rare Disease Day, we stand with the millions of individuals and families affected by rare neuromuscular diseases.

At NNRI, our mission is rooted in advancing research, expanding access to clinical trials, and supporting patients living with conditions such as CIDP, MG, ALS, FSHD, IBM, and other rare neuromuscular disorders.

While each condition may be rare, together they impact millions worldwide. Through innovation, collaboration, and clinical research, we continue working toward better treatments and improved quality of life.

To our patients, caregivers, researchers, and partners: we see you, we support you, and we remain committed to accelerating progress.

How clinical research is exploring new pathways for communication in ALS🧠🔬

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons, often making communication increasingly difficult over time. Research into assistive technologies, including brain computer interfaces like Neuralink, is exploring how communication may be supported in the future through clinical studies.

This KXAN story highlights one individual’s personal experience living with ALS and participating in a Neuralink clinical trial. The patient’s perspective reflects the daily challenges ALS can bring, particularly related to mobility and communication, and the importance of ongoing, ethical research in this space. We are grateful to individuals who choose to share their stories publicly and contribute to clinical research.

We’re proud to see Dr. Yessar Hussain, Director of the National Neuromuscular Research Institute and Austin Neuromuscular Center, featured in this KXAN story on ALS and emerging assistive technology, .

There is still no cure for ALS, but innovation—combined with comprehensive neuromuscular care—can help support quality of life and independence for patients and families.

Technologies like Neuralink are not treatments or cures; however, they raise important questions about how assistive technology may support communication and independence for people living with paralysis.

At NNRI and ANC, our focus remains on evidence-based care, ongoing research, and supporting patients at every stage of neuromuscular disease.
