As someone who spends most of their days face-to-face with this disease, I want to shout this from the roof tops. If your loved one says, "I am better staying in my own home." consider they may be better in a social setting, experiencing life with others. They have their routines and are comfortable in their own space, and doing new things is actually GOOD for you. They may not realize their hearing loss, but their house mates will. These are all factors that contribute the progression of dementia. I think to myself everyday "How can I avoid the steep decline into a demented state?" I also ask how we can keep our residents from doing the same. It's never too late to do something

Catching our caregivers doing great things during a surprise visit is one my favorite things! Last week, I stopped in and this MVP caregiver was reading Cyrano de Bergerac during dinner. Yesterday I stopped in and could smell her dish cooking as soon as I got out of my car in the driveway. As owner, this makes my heart sing at Millhouse Residential Senior Care Home

We are grateful for our team members, full of compassion and willing to meet people where they are. Elena is reading scripture to one of our residents at Millhouse Residential Senior Care Home. She tells us it brings her peace and helps her sleep better.

Pumpkin fun at Millhouse Residential Senior Care Home! One beautiful pumpkin was a gift from a family. The spooky (and messy) one was a creation by Evon and Angelica. One of the residents was craving roasted pumpkin seeds, so that was done also!
