What do you think??—Some think it’s the greatest thing since keto bread.
Others say it’s not all that different….
What I like:
🥦🥩Veg + Protein > Grain
Remember when grains were the base of the pyramid with a recommended 6-11 servings per day???
🧈 Full fat dairy
Full fat dairy is a whole food.
The low fat recommendation has been dead 20+ years yet every yogurt on the shelf is “low fat.”
No, it’s not for everyone, but for the majority of healthy individuals and especially for kids, full fat dairy has far more benefits nutritionally.
🦠 Mention of gut health and the microbiome. — a first!
📱Simple, straight forward guide
The old version was a 165 jargon packed snooze fest.
The new dietary guidelines are easy to read and understand which means more people engaged with health education and empowered to make better choices. WIN 🙌
What I don’t like…
Protein = Veg — these are not on the same level for me. Yes, protein is important, but the base of the diet should be vegetables.
💃 No bioindividuality.
There’s no one-size-fits all diet.
What works for one person can be disastrous for the next.
You need to find what works for you and ignore the rest. Knowing too that it will change with you.
That’s where the benefit is in working with someone, getting testing done, personalizing your own plan, so you understand your body better and know what works for you.
