Walking back onto the UT campus felt like stepping into a full circle moment. 💫

12+ years ago, I was sitting in Gearing Hall as a nutrition & dietetics student, soaking in lectures, taking notes, and trying to figure out what my future as a dietitian would look like.

💁🏽‍♀️ This week, I walked into that same space, not as a student, but as a speaker sharing my journey.

I had the opportunity to connect with both undergrad and graduate students about what it really looks like to take your RD credentials beyond the traditional path and build a private practice rooted in your values.

I shared the behind-the-scenes of my journey, the challenges, the pivots, and the moments that shaped Wholesome Start into what it is today.

It was incredibly nostalgic sitting in Gearing Hall, remembering the version of me who was just starting out.

🫶🏽 I wish I could tell her that one day she would be back here, not just as a dietitian, but as a business owner, speaker, and co-author of a book that helps bridge the gap between GI and eating disorder care.

I also got to share about the Comprehensive Nutrition Therapy for Co-Occurring Gastrointestinal & Eating Disorders, a project that is so close to my heart and something I hope will support the next generation of dietitians in providing more inclusive, evidence-based care.

Moments like this remind me that there is no one “right” way to be a dietitian.

💫Your path can evolve.
💫 Your voice can grow.
💫 And one day, you might find yourself standing in the exact place where it all started, realizing just how far you’ve come.

💁🏽‍♀️ Where you get your nutrition information matters.

There’s so much misinformation on these interweb streets that has my nutrition clients in a tizzy.

Here are some of my nutrition red flags 🚩
🔻You’re on a bunch of supplements because you saw it was helpful for some influencer
🔻 Your fear eating seed oils
🔻 Your avoid all gluten and dairy unless it’s raw dairy or Italian based flour
🔻 You eat raw chicken PERIODT
🔻 You avoid all processed food but take a protein powder & greens powders

The list goes on and on…

I recently had the honor of speaking on a Women’s Health panel for Microsoft International Women’s Day celebration, and it was such an inspiring experience.

We had thoughtful conversations about women’s health and answered some great questions about how nourishment, stress, and daily habits can impact digestive health and overall wellbeing.

As women, many of us wear so many hats. We are professionals, mothers, caregivers, partners, friends, and often the ones making sure everyone else is taken care of first.

But our health matters too.

Taking time to pause, nourish our bodies, and support our health is not selfish. It is essential.

I was so grateful to connect with such thoughtful and inspiring women and to be part of a conversation that centered women’s wellbeing.

A good reminder for all of us:
The women who take care of everyone else deserve care too.

here’s the recipe for the salad! Will have to do another one for the chicken keema next time I make it 🫶🏽

This chickpea, cucumber, mini pepper, & feta salad is my go-to option for Iftar.

It helps me meet my fiber needs, is crunchy, salty, hydrating, and satisfying after a long day of fasting.

I’ve been noticing something in my practice lately. 👇🏽

More and more people are starting GLP-1 and weight loss medications… and then quietly struggling.

They’re told the medication will help with appetite.
But no one talks about the nausea.
The reflux.
The constipation.
The diarrhea.
The “I feel full after three bites but also exhausted” feeling.

And then comes the confusion.😣

“What am I supposed to eat?”
“Why is my hair thinning?”

I see this all the time. 🤦🏽‍♀️�
A well-meaning client with IBS comes to me and says, “I’m really trying. I even started taking Metamucil capsules.”�
💪🏽They feel proud. Proactive. Responsible.�
And I love that energy. Truly.�
But here’s the problem.👇🏽�
😬Metamucil capsules only contain about 0.4 grams of fiber per capsule. You would need to take around 20 capsules a day just to get 8 grams of fiber.�
😣Eight.�
🫩That’s barely a dent in your daily needs.�

😬 Are you terrified to eat with IBS?

So was my last IBS Food Freedom client!

🤦🏽‍♀️ Her GI doctor diagnosed her with IBS and handed her a Low FODMAP “avoid” list.

That was it.

❌ No explanation of what to eat.
❌ No guidance on how to build meals.
❌No discussion of stress, sleep, hydration, or movement.

Just a list.

😲 So she started eliminating.
Garlic. Onion. Apples. Bread. Beans. Dairy.

❌ Then she cut more because she was still bloated.

Soon she was scared of restaurants.
Scared of family dinners.
Scared of trying new foods.

🫩 She was exhausted, under-eating, and convinced her body was broken.

She didn’t need another food list.

✅She needed structure.
✅She needed reassurance.
✅She needed someone to show her what & how to eat.
✅She needed support through reintroductions.
✅She needed nervous system work alongside nutrition.

💁🏽‍♀️That’s the difference between Googling IBS and working with a digestive health dietitian.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but coffee is not breakfast 😲☕️

This one simple trick can help you find relief from your tummy troubles! 👇🏽

I can’t tell you how many times clients come to me complaining about fatigue, nausea, stomach pain, bloating, and acid reflux in the mornings.

Upon reviewing their daily intake we discover that they are setting themselves up for a digestive disaster

🤦🏽‍♀️Having coffee on an empty stomach as soon as you wake up.

💩 Remember, you can’t have optimal digestion without providing your body with consistent and adequate fuel!

I’m not here to tell you NOT to enjoy coffee, but we can opt for a way to enjoy it without acid reflux, stomach pain and cramping, and urgent diarrhea!
