🌙 Ramadan & Eid book haul from BookPeople here in Austin, Texas🤍

We all know this isn’t my usual content but I’m obvi all about inclusivity and this experience really made my heart so full 🫶🏽

So grateful to see books like:• Ramadan for Everyone by Aya Khalil• Ramadan: A Holy Month by Malik Amin• The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Eid by Eric Carle• Happy Eid (Sticker Book) by Campbell Books• Eid Magic Painting Book by Usborne• Who I Am: Words I Tell Myself by Susan Verde

I would have loved seeing this kind of Ramadan and Eid representation in bookstores and libraries growing up.

It’s such a blessing to watch my kids experience the joy of reading books where they feel seen and celebrated.

Representation matters. Always. 🌙✨

Ramadan Kareem!

🥺 What a sad sad week it has been! We lost James Van Der Beek at just 48 after a battle with colon cancer.

His story is heartbreaking and also a powerful reminder that this disease can happen to people who seem young and healthy.

Colon cancer rates are rising in adults under 50 — and that’s why screening now starts at age 45.

If you have a family history or warning symptoms, your provider may recommend screening even earlier.

Warning signs aren’t always dramatic.

💩 Changes in bowel habits, persistent bloating, abdominal pain, or blood in your stool are worth talking about.

❌ Don’t brush symptoms off. Don’t wait.

✅ Talk to your healthcare provider. Advocate for your health.
Colonoscopies catch cancer early — and can even prevent it by removing polyps. 🛡️

If persistent digestive issues are affecting your life, a dietitian can help you:
• make sense of symptoms
• track patterns
• support nourishment and gut health
• partner with your provider for comprehensive care

Your body is worth attention. Your health is worth action. 💚

Want the truth about IBS?

IBS is complex, and managing it is less about food rules and quick fixes, and more about finding a balance between nutrition, mental health, gentle movement, and lifestyle.

A personalized, gentle approach is key! 💡✨

You’ve been told WRONG about IBS! 🚨”
There’s so much misinformation out there about IBS, and I’m here to set the record straight. 🙅‍♀️

🔹 IBS isn’t just about avoiding foods.
🔹 It’s not all in your head—it’s a real condition with real solutions.
🔹 Low FODMAP is a tool, not a lifelong diet.
🔹 Fiber helps, but too much of the wrong fiber can make things worse!
🔹 Managing stress may play a role in reducing your IBS symptoms, but it won’t magically cure IBS.

You can take control of your symptoms—with the right approach.

If you’ve ever been told one of these myths, you’re NOT alone.

The good news?

There are ways to feel better without unnecessary restriction and stress! 💛

If you love beef and struggle to meet your fiber needs, keep watching!

*cough cough* every Texan I’ve ever met 😜

When it comes to feeding my family I always focus on 3 major things:
✅ Flavor— does the food have delicious spices and sauces that make the meal exciting?
✅ Fiber — add a plant-based food to help meet our fiber needs
✅ Fuel — will this meal satisfy us for at least a couple hours?

Making meals more gut healthy doesn’t mean avoiding foods you love or even completely changing everything you eat.

When you work with me, you’ll find that we focus on things we can ADD to your diet that help you feel your best instead of unnecessary restriction.

What do you think of this one-pot fiber-packed meal?

If you have IBS, you’ve probably noticed this pattern:Stress goes up and gut symptoms flare. That’s not in your head. It’...

If you have IBS, you’ve probably noticed this pattern:
Stress goes up and gut symptoms flare.

That’s not in your head. It’s your nervous system talking to your gut.

I just shared a new blog on a simple breathing practice that can help calm both your mind and your digestion. It takes less than a minute, doesn’t involve changing what you eat, and can be especially helpful when symptoms show up during stressful moments.

If stress affects your gut, this may be a gentle place to start.

💬 I’m curious:
• Do your symptoms show up more during stress, busy days, or emotional moments?
• Have you ever tried breathing or nervous system tools for IBS?
• When do you notice your gut feels its calmest?

Learn how one simple breathing technique can calm your nervous system, support digestion, and ease gut symptoms linked to stress and IBS with a 4-2-4 pattern.
